Just when I start thinking he's ok Matthews has to spoil it by saying something stupid.

This is why many on DU don't put Tweety up on any pedestal.

(13,992 posts)I think he was referring the Kasich as a "brand" if you well, that could sell Republican economic policies. For a guy who makes his living as a communicator, I think sometimes Matthews really doesn't fully explain his thought process, and rather just throws out a half-baked observation without the context the lead him there.
I think he's right. As a speaker and as a presence, Kasich does exude a sort of middle-class everyman persona that Mitt Romney will never, not in a thousand lifetimes, ever be able to develop. I think Kasich will be an effective surrogate for Romney -- ironically everywhere but in Ohio, where the voters know him too well to be fooled by his bullshit. They can send Scott Walker to Ohio and Kasich to Wisconsin.

(6,996 posts)Asked Kasich if the charge that Obama ended work requirement is true or a lie Kasich said he, "wasn't familiar with the issue. He would have to study it."
What a cowardly POS.

(17,651 posts)K said he was glad it worked. I can't remember exactly how it went word for word.
Tweety then said the love thing but I thought that was because the Gov. went against Republican views and admitted he was glad the auto industry is doing well post-bailout.

That was a LONG time ago, before he went totally cuckoo, rigid and extreme. Twenty years ago? Can't remember for sure. I do remember that my now deceased husband liked him and said CPA husband was what I call an Eisenhower Republican with absolutely no attachment to the social issues currently espoused by either side. He felt ( wrongly to me during our discussions) that such issues were not relevant to the " real" role of government.
If he were still here, I imagine him loving Ryan and his numbers and scuttling the forced birther stuff to the trash bin, figuring (again, wrongly IMO) that it means nothing. Our house would be so much livelier now, yet I know he would have guffawed at the photoshop thread.
