(61,937 posts)South Korea and Taiwan are nuclear capable. They rely on the U.S. Iran thought they could trust the world powers, until Trump came along.

(24,426 posts)is, can the US ever be counted on to honor any of our agreements one President makes with other countries if the next President can easily back out of them? Note: I'm not saying we can't re-evaluate agreements if new circumstances arise, but it shouldn't be an easy process or shouldn't be for specious reasons (i.e. not liking the previous President)

(54,426 posts)First, there will never be any rational reason for them to use a nuclear weapon.
Second, if they ever WERE to use a nuclear weapon AS a weapon, they would not survive long to tweet about it. Not worth it. They can threaten all they want, but their threat would be more credible if it were made with something they CAN use without China, Japan, Russia or China obliterating them 90 seconds after deployment. They have something like 5% of their population in uniform and armed. That is enough to deter any hostile invasion. Even China wouldn't have THAT many body bags in stock if they were to try it.
