Hat tip, Joe.My.God: @JoeMyGod

White House correspondent and CNN political analyst April Ryan called on President Trump to apologize to the "Central Park Five" over a full-page ad he took out in four New York City newspapers in 1989 calling for the death penalty following the brutal rape and assault of then-28-year-old investment banker Trisha Meili.
"BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE," read the Trump ads from May 1, 1989, which ran ten days after the assault occurred. "I want to hate these murderers and I always will. I am not looking to psychoanalyze or understand them, I am looking to punish them."
....
Ryan, in a tweet to her more than 540,000 followers, asked the president if he planned to apologize.
Mr. President @realdonaldtrump will you apologize to the Central Park five? Posted withrepost @realdlhughley #This #TeamDl https://www.instagram.com/p/By2SQgEFrvp/?igshid=xfzvgbsf1qim

Holy shit -- years after DNA evidence exonerated them, Trump suggests the Central Park 5 are guilty and refuses to apologize for saying they should be executed.
"You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt."

Trump, asked by @AprilDRyan if he would apologize for his remarks on the Central Park Five, does not apologize and adds: "You have people on both sides of that. They admitted their guilt."

You have people on both sides of that - Trump just now when asked by @AprilDRyan if hed apologize to the 5 innocent young men in the Central Park jogger case. They were NEVER guilty of the attack they were imprisoned for & were fully exonerated. He called for their execution.

(19,976 posts)In 1989, Donald Trump even took out full-page ads in four major New York newspapers, spending nearly $90,000, demanding that New York bring back the death penalty for these five boys.

If the $90,000 figure quoted was in 1989 dollars, that would amount to $185,000 today. ???
Either way, that is some deeply morbid racism.

(10,167 posts)I believe unmasking Trump is the most effective way to defeat him. Here's an interesting interview with Michael Wolff that goes deeper into Trump's mental state than anything else I've read to date:

(63,221 posts)A snip from one of Michael Wolff's responses: "Donald Trump's mission is to attract attention to himself. So yes, Trump will be a voice which people will find either impressive or incredulous. Trump is not going to disappear until he dies or goes to jail. As we have always been, we, the American people and the world, are stuck with Donald Trump."
Basically, he is saying that we are never going to be rid of him. Even if we get him to leave the White House, he will never operate under the radar again because he is now addicted to having all the attention on HIM. He will continue to stir up shit until the day he dies. Personally, that day cannot come soon enough for me.
I cannot imagine spending the rest of my life having to see and listen to Donald Trump every fucking day. I may just need to unplug from the grid and go live in a cabin in the woods somewhere, because I honestly think I will go insane if I thought there would be no end to it in the foreseeable future.

(11,736 posts)He is way more likely to self destruct or get caught doing something illegal in the limelight. He was a small fish before and wasn't worth anybody's time. Now that he has held a position of power, he thinks he can do anything and get away. He will be proven wrong.
