Pelosi accuses Trump of an assault on democracy but says impeachment decision must be 'methodical

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday accused President Donald Trump of perpetrating an "assault" on the nation's democracy after he told ABC News that he'd welcome foreign information on his 2020 opponent.

"It’s a very sad thing," Pelosi told reporters about the president's words. "That's an assault on our democracy."

"What the president said last night shows clearly once again … that he does not know the difference between right and wrong," Pelosi told reporters. "And that’s probably the nicest thing I can say about him."

The president told ABC's George Stephanopoulos he'd accept dirt on his 2020 opponent from a foreign government and may or may not turn it over to the FBI. Trump argued that such information amounts to "opposition research" widely used by campaigns.

that's not really important enough to launch an impeachment inquiry.

Well, if this isn't the tipping point, there will never be one. We're done.

5. Sad? It's infuriating. I have given Pelosi the benefit of the doubt so far but

I'm done. Her stragedy will see 4 more years of Trump. I feel that If Pence takes Trump's place he would not be a viable GOP candidate in 2020. Anti gay, anti abortion and his staunch bigoted religious views are poison. Oh and anti pot is also a losing position.

7. It is impossible for me to follow all the routes to an impeachment, but the other day, I

think it was Lawrence Tribe, who wrote that the Speaker isn't needed to initiate an impeachment (inquiry??). With the flurry of subpoenas being issued this week, it is possible that Pelosi will "delegate" the initiating of an impeachment to one of the House Committees? I am only saying because of the optics if Pelosi begins the proceedings and Pence is taken down too, that leaves her as President. The media and R's will have a field day and revolt. Can this be why she is avoiding impeaching and leaving Nadler and Cummings alone to pursue discovery??
