saying the Dems and Nancy aren't accomplishing anything in the House. Why are the Dems not talking about all the legislation that they've passed in the House that is being held up (obstructed) by Mitch McConnell and the Senate Repugs.
Why don't they fight back with this information? I just don't get it?

Talk to your friends and neighbors
Write it on facebook, instagram, twitter.....
Heck, put a sign on the lawn of your home and a placard on your car.
We all have to help.

(115,683 posts)I get emails all the time from my Senators and my representative about legislation they are proposing, and how it's being held up in the Senate. Of course, these are fund-raising emails, but I can't say they aren't keeping me informed.

(25,242 posts)you know what is going on - but - the rank and file American only hears what the other side is telling them as they hear from Repugs, Repug talking heads and the MSM that repeats what they say.
The rank and file American voter is not on DU like you and I. The rank and file American doesn't get fund raising e-mails from their Senator or Representative. They aren't informed like you and I.
I'm sorry - but I don't hear the Dems talking about the legislation that they've passed in the House. And those that do say something about it - don't say that it is being held hostage by Mitch McConnell in the Senate. They don't say that he is obstructing.
We need to get through to that rank and file American voter - if we want a big turnout in 2020. I just don't think that we are getting through to them now and the Dems are missing a perfect opportunity to get through to them - if they don't talk about McConnell's obstruction.

(115,683 posts)You want them to talk about legislation, but your rank and file American voter doesn't watch the news shows where they do that, and certainly not C-SPAN. Many representatives hold town halls, which is probably the best forum for communication with voters, and rank and file voters will go to those if there is an issue that concerns them. Local news - tv and newspapers - also cover significant federal legislation relating to that area. What else would you suggest?

(7,722 posts)Go on every paper, periodical, news and radio show they can get booked on and say it over and over and over, forcefully, assertively, sometimes loudly and angrily, multiple times a day. There should be more than just the 15-20 congresspeople we see constantly on TV.

(25,242 posts)The View, Ellen, The Talk, Good AM America, The Today Show, Colbert, Corden, Fallon, Meyers, Kimmel, etc.
All these shows have political guests. When the Dems are on these shows this is what they need to talk about. The typical American voter watches these shows. This is how to get through to them. Keep on hammering the point that the Dems have sent these House passed bills to the Senate and McConnell & the Repugs are ignoring and obstructing.

I agree with Dems current strategy.

(25,242 posts)hidden from the view of the typical American voter that we need to turn out in record numbers in 2020 if we're going to take back the Presidency and the Senate and keep the House.
The message that's getting through is that the Dems are just focused on 'investigations' and not concerned about the real concerns. That's the message that's getting through because that's the only message we keep hearing over and over - from any Repug and Repug talking head.
I don't even think that the MSM is talking about the obstruction in the Senate and the legislation that has passed the Dem House and is being held up.

(54,770 posts)passed say a Comprehensive Healthcare Bill and forwarded it to Senate for them to go on record as voting it down or refusing to take it up.
Have we forwarded a House Bill to shore up Social Security and Medicare? Similarly, forcing them to refuse to take it up or vote it down.
Have we passed actions to limit trump's power to impose tariffs, threaten foreign countries, and the like?
Hopefully we have, and I just missed it. If not, I think we should.

(115,683 posts)it might be better to do that closer to the election, where they can use Turtle Boy's intransigent failure to move those bills to the Senate as a campaign issue. That's what I'd do, anyhow.

(8,922 posts)Although I really don't see why waiting is an advantage. It might give McConnell an excuse for not acting. Personally I would just go ahead and vote on them and get them on the table.

(7,722 posts)The average person isn't watching or listening to cable news or reading Washington Post articles. We really do need to have a media strategy like the Republicans or they win the message.

(8,922 posts)that but it needs to be high on our list of priorities to get it out there where all voters can see it. The House democrats legislation on major issues like health care, Medicare, social security, federal income tax, etc. receives very little to no attention in the M$M. Taking action against Trump tariffs is needed right now.
M$M is sucking up all the oxygen on "impeach vs. not impeach". Our legislative efforts are buried under it in the television media.

(2,785 posts)they want to do like taking healthcare away. That should be the message not that we passed bunch of legislation that has no chance of becoming law. What the house is getting done is stopping bad legislation.
