(8,144 posts)Politics. It is a global economic force, for the good and the bad. It influences politics. If you get outside America, from Central to Latin America, to Europe, to Africa, you will begin to understand it as a power and influence, beyond what we usually accord any sport, but rather accept as a passion and an art. NBC is committed to showing these games on several channels.
See The Beautiful Game video series for insight into the world wide significance of soccer.
I had to, as the daughter of a line of coaches in American sports, with a soccer maniac fiancé from Ireland, do my research.

(2,343 posts)and it sucks I'm here at work missing all the games. Maybe it's good that they aren't showing news programs right now. Don't we all need a break from the anxiety laden nightmare of this fake presidency? Watch the games. You might enjoy them and maybe it'll take your mind off the horror show.

(5,042 posts)Every show on MSNBC follows a similar format if you watch all day, no matter whose show it is. Rachael is the only one who comes close to breaking it.
As an example.....
The first segment will be what Trump/Barr/Mueller/Congress is doing.
Second segment is usually Jared/Ivanka shenanigans.
Third is some bill Cocaine Mitch is trying to ram down America's throat.
Fourth is Dem primary.
Repeat at 2.....repeat at 3.....4, 5, 6....

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
