The stunning result to the Kentucky Derby continues to dominate the national conversation on Sunday morning. President Donald Trump checked in on Twitter to share his thoughts on the race.
Maximum Security was the first horse to cross the finish line at Churchill Downs on Saturday afternoon, but while the celebrations began, racing stewards went to instant replay to review an objection. After 22 minutes, they overturned the result, making Maximum Security the first winning horse to get disqualified in 145 years of the Kentucky Derby. Maximum Security committed a foul by impeding the path of three horses at one point during the race. Country House, which had the second-longest winning odds in Derby history, was eventually declared the winner.
The Kentuky Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch. Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!
