I never understand why the Democrats are so bad at messaging. I realize this tax law is the law, but you can also do some messaging. GOP messaging is about over-reach. The Democrats never seem to be concerned with public opinion.
Every time a Democrat is anywhere near a discussion about Trump's tax returns, they need to say 2 things:
(1) Obama turned over his tax returns when he ran for office and every year he was President he made them public.
(2) What is Trump trying to hide? He is moving heaven and earth to hide them. Why is that? There must be a reason. That is only common sense.
Two simple points that EVERYONE can understand. That will turn the public opinion. People will start to say, "Yea, what is he trying to hide?"

(3,344 posts)I don't only blame Democrats. It is primarily the media's fault for doing such a horrible job. This includes MSNBC.
Every reporter should mention that the President's personal lawyer testified, under oath, that the President engaged in financial fraud and brought documentation to show it. This makes the Dems request perfectly justified (and demanded, really).

(10,252 posts)That's why they are Trumpsters. They don't care if Trump cheats on his taxes. They admire him more for his greed. They hate gov and resent a single penny of their taxes going anywhere but in their own pockets.

(1,156 posts)That it is unseemly to keep a shameful thing concealed is an idea so simple that 99% of four year olds can understand it. Hell, it's so simple probably even most Republicans can understand it.
If he doesn't have anything to hide why is he hiding?
The tax returns and the Meuller Report - why are they being kept hidden?

(6,619 posts)For example, I got frustrated listening to one candidate not long ago. To describe it conceptually, they kept saying "this situation exists" about various topics but never explained ""here's why you (average American) should care, because here's how it affects you."
