Every day I get the heeby jeebies more and more every time Romney opens his mouth. And I get the vapors when I see his picture. This guy is absolutely terrifying. Even Bush looks more favorable when you contemplate the possibility that this monster could win.
If there is a God pray that he does something or says something so stupid that it scares the S out of even supporters. Well they are as crazy as he is.
The fact that he is not down 20 points in the polls is a statement of how really stupid we are as a nation. I could understand him having maybe 20% of the nutcases you can never say. I cannot understand that we have so many people that are so stupid to support him.

(45,002 posts)when Mittsy totally freaks out as his inevitable defeat grows closer.
Mitt will not only prove to be a sore loser... he just might come totally unhinged.
And it will be a glorious sight to behold.

(8,377 posts)McCain expected Hot Sarah would give him a much bigger-than-average bump. What he didn't understand is that snarky simpleton only inspired the base that would have voted for him anyway. And she scared the hell out of everyone else.
Romney made the same mistake. He was reading all those fawning Beltway press clippings about how handsome the boy genius is and what an excellent workout he does every day. Did we mention he is handsome, too? And good looking? Romney probably figured that was good for at least 5 points with the women-folk.
Now his people know that Ryan didn't add anything to the poll numbers and instead has thrown the Romney campaign completely off track. When they aren't talking about how rape victims shouldn't be allowed to make decisions about their own treatment, they are talking about how they aren't really killing medicare and Social Security, honest ...
Romney is probably holding out hope that he will get the usual 5-point convention bounce, but I bet that doesn't happen. All but about 7% are already committed, and I doubt they will win over very many with the kooks the GOP puts on the stage next week.
And remember, Obama hasn't really started the real campaign yet. By mid-September, we will be seeing 20,000-50,000 person events for Obama and the Romney events will be 1000-2500. That is very powerful imagery. Americans like to go with the winner. The Koch Brothers can't buy enough actors to fill up one big event, and we will be seeing the Obama campaign doing this in city after city.
The Obama guys understand these things, and they understand timing. Don't use you ammo too early.

(33,956 posts)ALL he has left is the base. He will do anything and everything he can to maintain the base and count on voter suppression to cushion the loss of the Independents.

(16,399 posts)Once the average non-partisan voter sees this guy, how phony and robotic and devoid of a soul he is, he's toast. His desperation will only add to his eventual defeat. We may have to wait until October however to see the effects....

(11,465 posts)I have family members in the military, who have always voted dem but after 3 years of working at pentagon he was going to change to republican they had influenced him that much.
But they came to visit me a few weeks ago and she stayed being a dem and he changed but to independent because neither will vote for Romney, they will stay with Obama.
Has a lot to do with extreme stuff for women, the fact he changes all the time, and the fact he is siding with those on the extreme right.
It also helped that they left dc area in may and now live in Colorado.
He also admitted to me being a officer in military is hard to get ahead being a dem. he feels safe being independent because no one has to know where he stands.
This is same guy who started 11 yrs ago with Clinton's book signed by him, they met him at bookstore, proudly on coffee table...
