At this point I don't see how Trump can run for President in 2020

He won't last that long, his mental state is deteriorating right before the entire world's eyes.

He's not like Reagan who was able to hide from the public.

Trump's mental illness is on full display every single day on Twitter, and he's leaving a paper trail.

It sounds like you're engaging in wishful thinking. Republicans do love him. Evangelical Christians, in particular, believe God put him in office, and that he's implementing God's plan. That's why the overwhelming majority of them voted for him, and would leap at the chance to do so again. You can argue that those Christians are being conned, and I don't disagree, but they don't know that, do they?

It's the lowlife, low IQ, Christian Evangelicals who love him. These people do not represent ALL republicans. I know a lot of republicans who either voted for him reluctantly (simply because he was the republican candidate) or voted for him because they hated Hillary/Liberals/Minorities/Gay People/Immigrants/Feminists, etc. They were never particularly taken in by him as a candidate.

There are a lot of educated, mainstream Protestant/Catholic (and other denominations), middle/upper-middle class republicans who voted for him as well because they thought he would best represent their interests, but they don't LIKE him. They are not true-believers.

is if he stays in the Oval Office. We will only get him out of there kicking and screaming.

I think only a massive heart attack or stroke which involves a gurney and an extended trip to Walter Reid Hospital will get him out.

People want to believe what they want to believe - there is NOTHING about him, what he has said or done that indicates him not having to be forcibly removed from the Oval Office if we somehow manage to have our candidate win in November of 2020.

a while back when he mentioned that after the Dem wins in 2020, and the inauguration is held on January 20, the Federal Marshals will remove Trump from the White House because he is no longer the President of the United States.

Of course the trick for us is getting from November 3 to January 20 unscathed.

As prez, he can dangle pardons, call exec. privilege, lie at will, use campaign funds to pay lawyers...and I heard as many as nine DOJ lawyers were working on his defense. He doesn't have the money to pay for all the benefits he gets as prez. I'd imagine he'd do whatever it takes to stay in office.

It’s likely that the miserable S.O.B. will still be standing in 2020. At the very least, Democratic candidates should prepare to face 45.

If Republicans were committed to doing what’s right for the country, they’d have gotten rid of Trump long ago. Now, even his initial Republican critics are with him.

I'd like to believe it, but I've fallen for this sort of thing too often before.

I was ecstatic when trump won the republican primary because I thought we'd beat him in a landslide. I was actually embarrassed for the poor, dumb, bastards that thought trump actually had a chance to win. Turns out I was the one that was wrong.

Then, I thought the orange clown would be impeached, or quit, in less than a year. I thought that surely, once everyone saw how bad he was at the job, that most people would be happy to see him go. Again, I was wrong.

There have been many times since, when I thought that trump was almost finished. With all the lies, dumb tweets, scandals, investigations, etc, I thought his support would erode, and he'd be sent packing, on way or the other. Yet, he's still here.

I believe trump will be the republican nominee in 2020 because I don't see anything going on to make me think that he's going to have an opponent in the primary.....hell, South Carolina is talking about NOT having a primary, so trump can't be challenged.

I also don't think he'll be easy to beat in 2020, and that he may very well win reelection. He really hasn't lost that much, if any, support from the people that voted 'for' him last time. They all think he is doing a great job. And, I think that even most republicans that 'held their noses' when they voted for him last time, will do the same in 2020.....they'd rather have any republican over a Democrat any day.
