Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHere in Washington State, we've had some fairly popular Republican governors in the past.
But not since they first ran a Republican who tried to run a campaign based on "social issues." (abortion and homosexuality). I can't even remember her name now, but ever since then the state has elected Democrats to the top office.
The more this election turns into a debate on social issues and candidates' characters, the better off Obama will be.

(4,482 posts)5. Actually we've had democratic governor's since 1985
Christine Gregoire (2005 - Current)
Gary Locke (1997 - 2005)
Mike Lowry (1993 - 1997)
Booth Gardner (1985 - 1993)
Prior to that, it went back a forth between parties.
