(15,656 posts)It's just that I like to scan headlines/titles and figure out which ones to look at first. I sort of have a limited bandwidth most days.

(4,341 posts)if he is referring to the election where Henrique Capriles was the opposition candidate, then he is right.
If you know the realities of Venezuela today, and you agree with what is going on there, then please continue to complain about anything this administration is planning, or threatening to do there, but if you don't? then please do not condemn it because Venezuela does need the help.
Also, understand that it is not only the USA who is going after the Venezuelan regime, it is Brazil and Colombia as well. I know that GW and company said the USA would be greeted as liberators in Iraq and, as we all know, it was a big lie, but I can assure you that in Venezuela the USA/Brazil/Colombia coalition WILL be greeted as liberators.
If there is any "winning" this administration can do is get rid of the current Venezuelan regime, they are not legitimate.
Question: How many people on this board know that Maduro was born in Colombia and by the constitution cannot be president of Venezuela? This is not fake news, there are plenty of proofs, his immediate family still lives there.
Read about it, try to feel the pain of the Venezuelan people, and if you still want to support Maduro and Co...ok, that is your prerogative, but I think you will change your mind when you learn the truth about what people are going through.
Last, Putin wants Venezuela, if he gets there? the USA will become an easy target. It is not in the interest of the USA and S. America for Russia to become the next invader of Venezuela. Think about that.

(53,410 posts)But the US intervention in Central and South America has been of historical suppression and disaster capitalism where the US profits from economic disasters in their countries. Its known as the Shock Doctrine which includes the 1973 coup in Chile in which the CIA played a prominent role in placing Augusto Pinochet in power. The CIA also funded the Chicago School of Economics run by Milton Friedman, where prominent Chilean economists studied.

And you can rest assured that Trump will only serve himself and not Venezuela any more than he serves the US. He would gladly give Putin what he wants.
