(11,203 posts)I will never again cross the threshold of a Starbucks. I know, he is the former (not current) CEO. Nevertheless, I am confident that his retirement is either coming from Starbucks or dependent on the value of Starbucks stock. Absent considerable proof that hurting Starbucks doesn't hurt Schultz, none of my money goes through a Starbucks cash register if Schultz runs.

Can't tell you the number of local mom and pop coffee cafes this corporate s$#t has put out of business in NY.

(56,830 posts)I need to load it down with sugar and cream to offset the bitter taste.
I've always preferred Dunkin Donuts, but they kept raising their prices, so I switched last year to my local Cumberland Farms, where you can get a coffee up to 30 ounces for 99 cents vs 24 oz at Dunkin Donuts for $3.00 now. Since it's on my way to work (and across the street from a Dunkin), it's easy enough for me.

(11,661 posts)A vague, disaffected Democrats and Republicans isnt enough. Also, an independent candidate has never been elected for a reason. He would merely siphon off votes & ensure Trumps re-election. What is his true motivation?
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Trump thinks Schultz would siphon off Democratic votes. But Schultz has views that are clearly conservative (cut Social Security and Medicare, no single payer healthcare, an austerity view of taking care of the huge debt we have, he wouldn't have cut the wealthy's taxes as much as was done in the tax cut bill - but he would have cut them - so might raise taxes somewhat on the very wealthy).
I can't see any Democrat, or left-leaning Independent, voting for him.
Could be that Schultz knows this. And so does Schmidt.
Trump, as usual, doesn't know the details. People assumed, as I did, that Schultz is liberal, because of his good treatment of his employees, his humble upbringing, etc. It turns out, looks like, that he's a conservative. That is what it looks like to me.

(638 posts)How about Mr. Coffee helps Puerto Rico or improve inner city schools like LeBron did? If you really wanted to do something beneficial to society than do something worthwhile rather than doing an ego tour. He wouldn't even get 2% if he ran.

(12,191 posts)Preet Bharara: I think @HowardSchultz should totally run for city council in whatever city he lives.
Gerwalk It Out: I'm fine with him being HOA president of the gated community of estates he lives in.
Kiss My Asterisk: Hard pass...
maybe he can run for President of his yacht club.
Im So Over This: I'm so sick of anyone who is reasonably famous thinking the only political roles they can play are at the top. Some of these people would catapult through the ranks if they'd just take a minute to get SOME experience.

Mr. Schultz, if your ideas are so good, run in a primary like a real candidate.
You are going to embarrass yourself worse than you already have.
