24/7 and intermittently show its audience the lack of hordes of people crossing? They tell us there is no emergency for a wall and of course that is true, but I think a visual would be more convincing to prevent Rumps fear mongering. Do a split scream during broadcasts every half hour. Or CNN?

Nancy and Chuck are kicking ass, but it needs to go deeper than that.

(12,389 posts)The post sunk. But I think since we are being threatend with a mass influx of murderers and rapists, we should lean on the media to show us where this is happening. When a hurricane is on the way the weather channel has Cantori wandering up and down the eastern seaboard for days, sounding alarms, and every blown down branch is filmed at least three times in the aftermath coverage, (Not making light of hurricanes... I lost my home in Irma...) ...just saying that if we are truly under threat as the republicans want us to believe, SHOW US WHERE!!!

(8,923 posts)why would MSNBC or CNN be expected to present that kind of truth? The way I interpret corporate media's modus operandi it doesn't look like presenting truth is their objective. Rather, they sell more advertising by feeding controversy to the masses and then pepetuating the controversy. This is also what I find wrong with those who argue that MSNBC and CNN are "liberal media". Only relative to Fox News are these networks remotely "liberal". For example, Both MSNBC and CNN have been pushing "both siderism" like crazy with respect to the responsibility for the shutdown, working very hard on shifting public opinion about who is responsible for the shutdown back toward the center - when clearly the real issue is not giving in to Trump's hostage taking and McConnell's refusal to allow a vote in the Senate on simply re-opening the government.
This is why I believe democrats need their own network, the same way that Fox News caters to the right.
But then, what would happen to MSNBC and CNN ratings if such a left wing network came into existence? And is this the real reason the left doesn't have its own network?

(12,389 posts)Certainly a lot depends on the individual, but I have found most of their newscasters and guests to be of good character and civic minded conscience. Acosta, Lemon, Rachel, Joy, Lawrence, etc.
