1. That's the whole purpose of most of the GOP - get rid of those pesky "liberal" judges

Keep seats open as long as they could when there was a Democrat in power - and as soon as they could, install their own demon-ridden corporatist spawn on benches all over the country.
That way, they've got cover when they commit their crimes and gut all civil rights they deem frivolous or "ungodly".

They still want their Plantation Amerikka, and they're planning on using a compromised, weak judiciary as their tool this time.

next time we get the power. So I'm not going to lose sleep on this, no matter what they do. But this would be a pretty big change for the next two years- lots of judges speeding through.

3. In 2013 the parties agreed to a temporary rule change that was very similar

Not great for the next two years, but I would be content to live under those rules in the majority as well.
