(7,142 posts)she would get under Trump's skin. If not Nancy I'd like it to be a Senator who could embarrass his Repug colleagues.
Can Dems ask Al Franken to give the rebuttal?

(58,785 posts)I feel screen media should cover this speech. Trump threatening what would be an enormous, dangerously enormous, abuse of power is news. This will also be Trump's first prime-time speech ever, and he is POTUS.
But with fact checking in real time for all viewers to see. Like the "facts box" CNN tried during a Sanders press conference. There've been no responses yet to widespread demands for fact checking.

(42,020 posts)Trump cant do a speech without lying, and this will be an opportunity to publicly fact check him.
He won't be able to stick to the script. He'll lie, brag, and almost certainly say something demonstrably stupid... then the Democratic response will reveal the truth... I hope you're right.

(5,328 posts)Trump could spew out so many outrageous lies that there won't be enough time to prepare and deliver a comprehensive refutation. Hopefully the Democrats have assembled a large team that's ready to work fast.

(37,648 posts)To give a speech right after Trump's, there is no time to correct the misinformation and lies. They can guess at what the lies will be.
I hope they try to correct the lies, rather than just focus on DACA and the Democratic position. Because there is no counter position to Trump's lies. It would equate the Dem position to the Trump position. The Trump position is total fabrication and lies.
It gets me so angry that the networks are going to air Trump's speech. When they refused to air Obama's? No way. That portends bad news for us going forward, if Trump is now telling the networks what to do. That would mean he has taken control of the media.
