Not sure which one is the winner of why people say they are independent. One third are embarrassed to admit they voted for Rump against their best interests, another third are trying to date a Dem lady and the last third are just young and clueless.

However, they vote right, preach right-leaning, believe right-leaning, and for all appearance purposes seem to be republican.

I think many that claim to be independent are actually registered in either the D or R party if their state has closed primaries.
