I'm in California helping my aged parents. I'm supposed to fly back to Minnesota on Tuesday. I wonder how the TSA screening is going to be at LAX. Things seem to be moving toward a job action by workers, since they have no real assurance of being paid, now that they are working as de facto slaves.
Fortunately, I'll be able to rent a car, if necessary, for the three day dive, but I need to get home and back to work. Just another worry caused by Trump and his temper tantrum.

(22,543 posts)You don't want to have to do that! I'm a few years younger than you and I no longer want to make the two day drive from New York to Florida to visit my dad! It's grueling.
I read this morning that the TSA is keeping to their standard of a maximum clearance time of 30 minutes. I hope the best for your travels, MM.

(18,455 posts)When my husband and I flew in to LAX from Sydney, Australia on the 22nd of November(Thanksgiving Day), we had a 3 hour layover. We barely made our connecting flight to Minneapolis with less than 15 minutes to spare. Factor in Customs and TSA, we were hurried from one terminal to another. The TSA were being overwhelmed even at that time and the lines were super long.

(9,124 posts)It might be fun in itself and takes 37 hours. Not sure what one would pay for rental car plus gas or the airline ticket.
There is a variety of options from about $300 to $1070 for January 14 for instance.
