Did fed govt send furloughed workers letter they could barter services for rent, mortgage pay?

Incredible! Written by someone not living in real world.

Can anyone find and post the letter?

1. Someone I know who is a fed employee told me about a letter he got instructing

on how to beg banks, creditors, etc to delay payments for a while. I thought that was callous and unhelpful. But barter? Ridiculous.

9. Ridiculous? Yes. And, yet, it happened.

The letter suggests that employees ask their landlords about "the possibility of trading services to perform maintenance (e.g. painting, carpentry work) in exchange for partial rent payments."

4. If it were my situation, my landlord would be giving me 30 days to leave.

He needs the rent money to pay for the high municipal taxes and for repairs. A letter from the federal government would not help.

5. Same -- I would legally have fourteen days to quit

Then, after I didn't leave, another seven days, then would be removed by LE, and have an eviction on my file.

7. Are any federal employees living in Trump properties?

Would be interesting to see how that goes.

8. From news reports, OPM apparently offered suggestions for employees

See this - https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/furlough-guidance/ (which is what I think you are talking about)

However individual agencies generally craft furlough notices for employees (for those not designated "essential" ) to sign, after which they are told to logoff of any computers or government-issued devices (phones/tablets, etc) and go home (if they were not already teleworking and did not have to come into the office). That's it.

As a recently retired fed, in the past, they would often have a meeting prior to distributing the furlough paperwork to sign, offering info on applying for unemployment, etc., but I expect that whether this is done or how, is up to each agency. There is no "blanket" way.
