This is the emotional letter the Baylor victim wrote about the man she says raped her

https://www.star-telegram.com/news/state/texas/article223009415.html

The letter includes GRAPHIC details, which I recommend reading. She also said this.

"When I regained consciousness I did not know where I was. I was lying in the grass and dirt and something sticky was on my face. As I continued to throw up I realized I had been vomiting and aspirating while I was unconscious. My friends immediately took me to the hospital and a SANE exam verified the rape. I had trauma and tearing and grass inside my vagina. I was treated for HIV and many STDs and told to take plan B. I had to get labs done two more times over the next year to make sure I do not have HIV or STDs. Everytime is stressful, wondering if I might still die as a result of being raped. The police arrived and took a report."

And this

"From the beginning Prosecutor Hilary Laborde told us the following things:

1. I have more evidence in this case then any rape case I have tried before. He will definately be convicted, it’s just a matter of his punishment. Just go up and tell your story. This case is cut and dry and he will be convicted.

2. Only 1% of rape victims have this level of trauma and tearing and this is very good medical evidence to prove the rape."

Yet this ADA decided the case was unwinnable and struck a ridiculous plea bargain for a tiny fine, no jail time and no sex offender registry.

And people wonder why women don't report....

As is usually the case, she was a victim in many different ways. And she
and her family continue to be, and will be for a long time. The rapist can
laugh it off if he hasn't already. Shame on the system. I know they will
be dealing with him again.

I was becoming dismayed at the lack of response. I know there is a lot of stuff going on and this is just something that happened to one girl, but it isn't. Sexual assaults happen hundreds of times A DAY in the US and 1/2 of 1% of perpetrators go to prison - 5 out of 1000. People ask why only 23% report their assaults to the police. Well, maybe because we do such a shitty job of locking up their assaulters and maybe we do a shitty job because 90% of the victims are FEMALE.

That poor woman. There is absolutely no doubt she was raped and he left her there like a pile of garbage. He deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law! (personally, I won't say what I really think he deserves.)

I can't believe he got off nearly scot-free. The judge should lose his job and a new sentence should be handed down. This is such a gross injustice!

from telling the victim that it was a very winnable case to refusing to go to trial really makes it seem like she was paid off or she was forced to make a deal by the DA. That DA, Abel Reyna, lost his gig in the March primary this year. So I guess there's some justice. Now to get rid of the judge that approved the deal. Both are Republicans.
