$33 Natural gas for heating, hot water and cooking
$39 Electricity
$88 Property taxes and homeowners insurance

$48 Water & sewer
$150 Payment on hospital bill
$8 Netflix
$120 Food, personal hygiene

$34 Dog's medications
$5 My medication
$100 Miscellaneous, clothing
-----

Since the time I posted the above, I quit smoking in spring of 2013, I dropped SNAP, SSDI has increased to $1158 a month, the hospital bill was paid off long ago, my dog had to be put down and I have Hulu now instead of Netflix and the cost is $11.99.

What I'm not getting is why you posted this.

But since you did, I'll chime in.

Congrats on quitting smoking. Also, congrats on having your house paid off. I'm sorry about your dog..that's always tough. There are pros and cons to both Hulu and Netflix...I have them both.

That makes a huge difference. Your property taxes and home owner's insurance is super low too.

"While many seniors enter retirement with their mortgages already paid off,"

Entering retirement with a mortgage may not be the wisest choice but could be corrected by selling and downsizing. Thankfully, in a way, I was lucky as my health problems restricted the amount of work I could do so when I finally applied for disability, at the urging of my doctor, and being approved 3 months after I applied, I was used to getting by with little.
