My Right Wing Facebook Friend called R. Maddow unintelligent

I posted the lastest Maddow Video on my FB page because she really did her homework in showing Mittens to be a liar.
As soon as I posted it My Right Wing Friend commented on Rachel
the conversation is below

ME:
Rachel Maddow, "The last time Mitt Romney asked us to just trust him, it turns out he was lying. ..Do you think he is telling the truth now?...Do you trust him to be President of the United States?"

Her:
I wouldn't believe Rachel Maddow if she said the sky was blue.....

ME:
Well in this Video she is merely using a factual paper trail that anyone can look back in History and fact check her story. What part of this video is unbelieveble?

HER:

ME:
Rachel Maddow is one of the smartest journalist on TV today. At least when people with opposing views come on her show. she has an actual conversation with them and not a childish screaming match. Did you watch the video I posted, what part of that video makes her come off as unintelligent?

Now it's been an Hour so far she has not written back. I can't go hard on this woman she is my Husband's former Commanders Wife.
She currently has an older son who is severly mentally challenged and living off Medicare and Social Security. She has 3 other Children at home with simular issues whom I am sure once they reach adult hood will HAVE to rely on Social Security to survive. I have no desire to change her mine, I just want to know if she even bothered to watch the video I posted. I know she didn't because her first comment came 30 secs after I posted the over 9 min video LOL.

And I know someone may ask why even bother to engage her, here's why she posted on MY FACEBOOK PAGE. I don't engage her on her page, but if she comes to my page, I will happily have a rational conversation with her as long as she is willing to respond.

But I am capable of having a rational discussion with anyone about anything and anytime. Unfortunately with my Wing Nut Friends it always ends badly
I promise I don't do this offtend, I have to protect my good brain cells for the future and i know this.

They didn't manage to promote as early or as often as we Dems did!

That paradigm of military wingnuts isn't terribly accurate, anyway. The military is an all volunteer enterprise and has been ever since the Vietnam War ended; it's chock-a-block full of minorities and women these days, and it reflects the fabric of America.

is the church mixing in with the population of military. Although my husband was a chaplain's assistant in the military I never say the actions of the church getting involved where they shouldn't. I remember Desert Storm when they we getting ready to go over to the middle east the chaplains offices knew they were not allowed to wear their crosses or bring bibles in the civilian communities. They knew they had limits. Today it is different. You see them breaking the boundaries and they don't care. This doesn't change hearts and minds. Also my husband says when he talks with these guys who come back some seem nutty.

She's not looking for honest dialog with you. She's an opinion, which you cannot sway, she's attempting to project. That's what our extremely partisan acquaintances do.

The odds are, considering her input so far, she'll either not respond, or she'll go gather some inane RW retort to reply with.

It's up to you how you deal with her. Personally, having now reached my 40's, I've come to understand I don't have time for certain pettiness anymore.

Check your inner feelings. If you value her, say so and let it go. The odds are she won't be the one to offer an olive branch.

We're all different and in different stages of our lives. So, of course, your mileage may vary here.

A graduate of Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California, she attended Stanford University. While a freshman, she was outed by the college newspaper when an interview with her was published by the student newspaper before she could tell her parents. Maddow earned a degree in public policy from Stanford in 1994. At graduation she was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship. She was also the recipient of a Rhodes Scholarship and began her postgraduate study in 1995 at Lincoln College, Oxford. to English.

What is going on with her friend, let me translate this, is a classic example of Anti Intellectualism.

The problem with R. Maddow is not that she is intelligent or not, in any intelligence scale you are familiar with. She is full of book learnin' and not common sense.

She is educated.

Educated people, by definition, are not intelligent because book learning is not what the common folk know.

What you just encountered was a world view.

I come across this crap every so often, since I am educated, have a college degree and everything. I have been told by RW to my face that book lernin' is not a mark of an intelligence person. And this goes back to oh. the 1740s.

As for her degrees, it seems that Dr. Laura has a PhD from Columbia University, and George Will has a PhD from Princeton. Ben Stein has a law degree from Yale.

Presumably those are all good schools. But do we on the left think that those three blind mice are intelligent?

Ultimately, it is probably better to make an argument in your own voice, and to do your own research.

Aside from the fact that nothing will sway people from the other side, there is the minor issue that they're actually wrong on most economic, social and moral stands they take, and their educated minions are partisans who, even when they possess the education and intellect to discern fact from lies, choose to follow their partisan agenda instead.

They misuse their education and intellect to support partisan lies to further their own selfish ends.

she should spend a year taking 1L classes. She's the type of person who would do it, and she needs to.

She really doesn't know what the hell she's talking about when she gets into areas involving legal questions. She doesn't recognize that certain phrases are necessary boilerplate from legal filings, or that certain dollar figures in legal filings just represent jurisdictional requirements. There are many examples like these two. She'd understand our country so much better with the benefit of just that single year of higher education.

I watch her show pretty much every night. Big fan. But the above is something she should do. It would make her that much better at running her show.
