He always wants to take credit. Him being so public about tariffs means that people can directly identify an action he took that changed things (for the worse)

They will never blame Trump. We can't convince them. But, like we just did in the last election, we can outvote them.

(32,748 posts)Referring to affected farmers, business owners, people with 401ks and other investments. They can see the direct connection between trump and what's happening with their finances. He opens his mouth and the DOW plummets. They see that.

I tried the tariffs topic on my Republican aunt a few weeks ago. She brushed it off without the slightest change of expression.
