(10,173 posts)then taken by train to the DC area for burial. There's a film of the train's progress (recently shown at the SF Museum of Modern Art: the train managed to bypass most of the state RFK represented).
Lincoln's funeral procession was even more elaborate. His body was taken on a tour of most of the cities of the Union states where it was on display in an open casket for a few days in each. A team of undertakers went along, since the body needed constant, um, maintenance. By comparison Bush is having an understated funeral.

display. Then load it up again and drive it to the National Cathedral.
Load it up again, fly it back to Texas. Display it again, load it on a train, then drive it again
to College Station.
