Rudy Giuliani became the latest conservative to lash out at Twitter, accusing it of allowing someone to invade my text after he fell victim to a prank unrelated to the social media company.
Giuliani, who is one of President Donald Trumps lawyers battling the Mueller investigation, accidentally tweeted the random hyperlink G-20.in by not putting a space after a period.
Because of how Twitter works, hyperlinks are automatically created when valid domains are written out in tweets. For example, writing out Twitter.com in a tweet would create a link to Twitters homepage.
On Friday, Giuliani tweeted: "Mueller filed an indictment just as the President left for G-20.In July he indicted the Russians who will never come here just before he left for Helsinki.Either could have been done earlier or later. Out of control!Supervision please?"
Someone then bought the G-20.in domain in Giulianis tweet and put up the message Donald J. Trump is a traitor to our country so anybody who clicked on the link saw it.
Upon learning about the prank, Giuliani who is also Trumps cybersecurity adviser lashed out at Twitter for his own error.

(10,749 posts)STFU.
The more he talks about this prank - which was pretty funny, and very quick-witted - the more idiotic he sounds. It's very clear what happened. He wasn't hacked. Twitter didn't do it. So, Rudy, STFU.

(1,622 posts)...then he should get the fuck off of it and stop using it - but everyone knows that's not going to happen.

(773 posts)You would think he would take the tweet down. By complaining about it, more people will be drawn to it!

(15,684 posts)You think you know all about it because someone showed you how to tweet. Then, out of nowhere, someone comes along and messes with everything you knew. It hurts. It really hurts. There should be rules against that.
Not really. Keep up the brilliant work. So. Much. Fun.

Now, where would we find a grown-up in this administration?
Not rhetorically. Really.

(19,259 posts)for reasons just like this. Rudy is a dumb shit. Almost as dumb as Trump, he's just a fraction of a synapse smarter. I mean, anyone who would hire Rudy has got to be a little more stupid, right?

(1,115 posts)I have learned more about the internet from this encounter. Whoever caught
that ".n" trivia deserves applause. I told my whiz son about it "with difficulty"
because I can't really grasp the language and he started sending messages right
away, it was so simple (and funny) to him and I am so proud to think I beat him
to something. I got these kids into old DOS like thirty years ago and they think
I am so slow.

(15,923 posts)marginally amusing low-hanging fruit.
But Giuliani's deranged response is pretty damn funny, just for its god-awful obliviousness and the genuinely bonkers inner workings of his mind it revealed.
