2 more flush their reputations down the toilet

Gina Haspel overturned the apple cart today, when she testified to a secret congressional committee on the Khashoggi murder.

And now, it's perfectly clear for all too see how much Pompeo and Mattis have slimed themselkves. They have completely trashed their reputations for the benefit of #1-Individual. Some might say that they trashed their reputations long ago -- so there's that. Why can't these Republicans see that #1-Individual is poison, a completely depraved man, who slimes everyone in his orbit. (Never mind, that's a rhetorical question.)

The stupidity and depravity of Republicans in general, and Trump officials in particular is totally fascinating to me. Fascinated in the Buddhist way of "look at what you find repulsive." Over and over and over again, I keep getting these little pearls of wisdom about our governmental poverty of ethics and morality. Everyday, there's another story about government corruption and personal lack of integrity.

And now Wall St is saying, well no, there's really not a deal with China, as WH folks scramble to find an explanation about that. Are these high gov officials really that stupid? (another rhetorical ??). I would be embarrassed to tell lies that are so easily exposed. Wouldn't you be embarrassed to tell such obvious lies? I swear it's a soap opera.

Consider that Colin Powell, far more respected before 2003, had to answer for years about his appearance speaking of weapons of mass destruction at the UN. Mattis, though among the sanest of the Trump people, He also was considered too hawkish by the Obama team.

He has always been a crazy right wing tea bagger. Mattis (like Kelly) thinks he is the only adult in the room and is there to preserve some sense of normalcy (good luck with that bucko!). But every day there is a new outrage and new BS. Every day Trump does or says something hideous. The only benefit for Pompeo is that tomorrow people will have forgotten this.

Because he has lent support to certain policies (most recently soldiers at the border) and, mainly, because he has continued to work for the Rump.

like some folks watch horror movies? The stupidity of the plot and the actors fascinates me. I think I enjoy feeling smug -- shame on silly me. For me, it's more about knocking hypocrites with feet of clay off their pedestals. After Trump, even the most mediocre POTUS will look fabulous.

Surely their are some GOP senators (besides Flake and Graham), who are royally pissed about Trump's MBS cover-up. Sure the phone lines are red hot.

On the rare occasion that I am able to dissociate myself from the horror that is Trump, I do find it fascinating. Especially when Rachel can talk me down! The midterm election helped.

I long for a time when we can get through a whole week without thinking about what is going on in Washington DC.

"Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To Deceive"

From day one trump has surrounded himself with people who won't really challenge him. If they do they don't last long, as we have seen. They have lied for him, covered up for him and protected him thinking that they could get away with it, hell trump got away with it for years, but now they are going to pay the price. They have deceived the country long enough. Those with half a brain will get out as soon as possible, the rest will go down with trump.

I've said a few times that I think most of the nation will give Mattis a pass on this as the OP provides no evidence that a majority or even a significant minority of Americans care about this. Just because, what appears to be a very few in number, do seem to care somewhat doesn't meant that Mattis's reputation is trashed.

does not decide what I think, which is that Mattis knowingly lied about MBS involvement in Khashoggi's murder. Maybe he told himself what he thought were a lot of good reasons for doing so. But that doesn't alter the fact that he lied, that he lied to protect a vicious murderer (MBS), and that he lied to protect a deeply depraved and degenerate Trump.

"And now, it's perfectly clear for all too see how much Pompeo and Mattis have slimed themselkves. "

You have provided no evidence that supports that statement. You'd be fine if you phrased it this way:

"And now, it's perfectly clear for me to see how much Pompeo and Mattis have slimed themselves. "

Had you said that, I probably would have made no comment in this thread.
