doing the Arab/Russian version of the high five salute, I am left really wondering what that was all about. If we take Trumps reaction as knowing what it was really about it would explain his pouting bad mood during the G20.
if You watch the video again youll see that Putin and the prince didnt say anything. They just reacted to each other in a way that is obviously telling of people being in cahoots over something that has turned out exactly the way they wanted it to. They came across to me like conspirators unable to contain their glee because their plan worked perfectly.
We didnt get to see the Saudi Princes expression but we know he was laughing. But Putins face was quite telling. Not only was he laughing but he was gleeful, out of control for a few moments. Ive never seen Putin with anything close to showing real emotion before.
Once they sat down it looked like they continued to giggle and finally Putin rubbed his hand roughly down
His face. It was a gesture that looked like he was trying to stop showing emotion. He was putting his mask back on, unaware the camera had caught all of it.
I wonder what that was all about because I think it was an important tell. Any ideas? I have an educated suspicion it isnt good for humanity, and specifically not good for the Western world and the US.

(7,405 posts)We could be looking at the beginning of a switch in the Saudi/US partnership to a Saudi/Russian partnership. Obviously I am just guessing. I wonder what Iran thinks of that concept.

(53,410 posts)We dont know what it was specifically about, but anyone who is an observer of human reactions can pick up on such an obvious emotional interchange. Adding that observation to the knowledge of the political propensities of both these men gives us chills, or it ought to.
Guessing is all we have at this time. And the idea that they can get something big that gives them power out of it is a good guess. I think youre onto the larger picture for Putin at least. The Saudi prince would be a perfect partner in the Middle East. And Iran may be OK with it as it means less power for the US.

(13,877 posts)All The Cretin had to do was disavow a murder. Putin already had him by the short hairs. And Kim is developing his nuclear systems.
Then there's our true allies...Europe and Canada ... just ugh.

(29,243 posts)and so did the Saudis with monetary contributions
all to get a weak and stupid person elected President of the US. one who is also an isolationist.
This allows the two dictators to do what they want in the future with Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

(53,410 posts)Perhaps another cog has just fallen in place and their plan is more secure.
Yet these men are not ones who have friends. Like all dictators they basically only have family loyalty and politically expedient allies or foes. At this moment Putin and the Saudi prince are allies in some scheme that appears to be successful. Perhaps more successful than they expected.
It just occurred to me that Trumps mid term election losses may be part of their plan too. Would Putin have his diplomats here leaking information to Mueller and the FBI to now undermine Trump? It will be interesting to see if that has legs.

Sorry, guys, but when women run to take over the planet all three of these jerkwads are going to star in our campaign ads.

(10,749 posts)they could just be trolling trump.
As in, it meant nothing (even if it was in bad taste), but they just wanted to fuck with trump.
It would be interesting to watch a longer video to see if they might have waited to do their high-five routine until trumpy bear entered the room.
All of that being said, it certainly seems that Putin is now abandoning trump. State media basically describing him as they might a depressed court jester, and now reports this morning that the Kremlin is releasing documentation supporting Cohen's testimony to the grand jury. Of course, the Kremlin could just as easily have released documentation showing just the opposite, being the Kremlin and all. But they didn't.

(53,410 posts)is probably one of Putins original goal moves. Hes hoping it will destabilize us further. If thats the case it kind of shows he doesnt understand the way Democracy works. Russia isnt equipped to have the will of the people make any difference. Its never been a Democracy and only reacts to its leadership. Its any Strongmans dream. Putin is careful to kill his opponents which doesnt leave any foothold for anyone to really oppose him successfully.
From what I saw of the video it looked like Putin and the prince were just meeting for the first time. They were in the bustle of everyone entering the room at once. But it seems strange they would just want to mess with Trumps head since Trump has been quite loyal to them.
We probably shouldnt project our feeling of Trump on how other leaders react to him. To us Trump is the enemy of our country, but to Putin hes a very useful tool.
