Today, several migrants threw projectiles at the agents in San Diego. Border Patrol agents deployed tear gas to dispel the group because of the risk to agents' safety. Several agents were hit by the projectiles. The situation is evolving and a statement is forthcoming.

(58,724 posts)Yes, I have read several of the news reports this evening and have also seen some photos and videos from the scene. It's a truly awful situation for those folks.

(58,724 posts)Do you know what these folks have been through? Do you know what their lives must be like in Honduras or elsewhere to have risked their lives in this way? Do you know how much they have suffered and given up to even get to this point?

(115,681 posts)and you still won't answer who you mean by " It's a truly awful situation for those folks".

(58,724 posts)I'm lost as to what point you are making.
Do you not think those folks are dealing with an awful situation? They left Honduras and travelled literally thousands of miles to get to the US border and are being housed in horrid conditions in Mexico and enduring tear gas from the US. These folks literally have no place to go, no safe haven, it's awful.

Your OP is about border agents being hit by projectiles. Who do you mean by "those folks", the border agents or the refugees?

(22,976 posts)Because Orange Hitler says that rocks are rifles, and here, tear-gas was deployed. Therefore, guessing rocks were not thrown.

(171 posts)like they've done with some juvenile stone-throwers. Those agents must have been terrified with nothing but full body armor and a wall to protect them. As someone else around here said, if they have arms like that then Major League Baseball would love to have them.

(54,094 posts)So it's all terribly convenient for them that Trump so willfully mismanaged the refugee surge, that chaos broke out at the border crossing and led to a violent overreaction, by both the small group of refugees trying to crossover and the border guards who have to deal with it.
This whole thing could have been easily managed, if we only had leadership that cared about handling the country's problems. They did virtually nothing to prepare for the influx of new refugees, just about guaranteeing that chaos would break out, and then violence would occur.
This is gross incompetence, and all of it lands at Trump's puffy pink feet. He thrives on chaos, it's his sunlight. And he doesn't care who he hurts
