I dont have cable, but I do have Roku streaming. Rachels video is not listed. Two questions:
Did anyone see it last night?
Was it good?
I am going to watch online, if possible.

(58,765 posts)in typical Maddow style, she tells a good story that also informs.
However, the content has been pretty well known for two or three decades. Everybody knew Nixon was a crook who used back channels to scotch the peace talks to win the '68 election. I suppose there were a couple of new revelations, but it really is old news, much like Reagan's back channel deal with the Iranis to keep the hostages until after the election. Trump 'colluding' with Russians is nothing new for the Repub party. It's been going on since the 60s.
So three of the five Repub presidents since Ike have won through shady international maneuvers of one type or another. Ford was the only president who was never elected to high office and Bush, Sr rode in on Reagan's coattails. Trump is perhaps even more insidious, because he sold the country out for nothing more than money.

(13,268 posts)know everything we know from having lived through it.
Young people must understand why we feel like we do about the seriousness of what is happening now. As you say, weve lived it!

(58,785 posts)consistent, identified pattern of ruthless, unprincipled, authoritarian and antidemocratic behaviors by conservative power seekers. Of course we who lived through the Nixon era do now also.
It can also be identified right back to the establishment of our republic, though. We established a liberal democratic form of government that authoritarian conservatives like Hamilton have never believed in. Equality of all men? Pffft! Ridiculous!

(8,203 posts)loved FDR - JFK - not so much talk about Truman - she would bring out all her newspaper clippings WW2 - cards from Dad and pictures of Dad in front of the Quonset Huts, in the snow - he was based in Greenland (communications) - so much of what she shared was romantisized..she was our buffer -
And then VN - two brothers, one enlisted Air Force, one drafted...we did not talk about LBJ or Nixon,, then VN war..I was old enough (class 64) to see why - late 60s early 70s...we hung on for dear life..
My brothers are fine, the younger brother came home in 72..lived with my family - three kiddos..he would not talk about the war, as war - he would share with me, bits and pieces...he drove transport truck through the countryside (VN) - my class of 64, as well as many other classes gave a lot, some ultimate sacrifice, many unable to pick up their lives, when they got home - be it PTSD, as we know it today, and/or maimed..
When these fine men, of my generation, did come home, Americans blamed them, in many cases..which was so NOT right....imagine having to need legislation to hire Viet Nam vets?????? So NOT right..
My son joined the Navy right out of HS..87 - he is Ret. Navy Chief - served on ships, Kuwait and Iraq..Pacific fleet - 21 years...I was totally against him joining - today, on his GI, earned degree, grad suma....ASU...is 5th grade teacher - so much to offer, my worldly traveler...
I could go on and on...war should NEVER be glamorized...Kuwait, Iraq - class of 70s and 80s...now, those families held on for dear life, and now face the depth of wars....again..only this time embeds and msm in your face..did we become normalized to war...I hope not...
This much I have learned and experienced, teach your children well, when it comes to looking for the BEST people to represent you in Government....it was because of Nixon - Ford pardon of Nixon,
If I were a parent of young children today - teens, of course - I would want them to hear stories such as Rachels..many I'm sure, Vets from VN and Kuwait and Iraq, can certainly choose what stories f war they want to teach..BUT, it all goes back to our Federal Govt...and people who are willing to sacrifice someone elses children for their ambition of power and greed..before country and countrymen and women....

Costs $3.00/month. You can live stream msnbc, cnn, BBC and others. It has a free trial period.
You either watch on your computer or hook your computer to your tv useing HDMI cable or mirroring.
I bought a $120 stick computer and a $30 miniature keyboard.
Another option is NBCnews.com. Replays top msnbc shows in 24 hr delay. No cost there.
Can also try msnbc.com to find archived content from all the msnb c shows.
