we are democrats, very difficult to agree on anything.
several of the new democrats promised to vote against ms pelosi for speaker, and i respect that. i do think that a majority of the house democrats will vote for ms pelosi.
a second ballot can then be held with a unanimous result.
it is ungortunate that repub tactics and trump lies and villianization had a place in the congressional election, but they are what they are and i'm happy and supportive of whatever it took to get them to congress.

(954 posts)I heard last night that there are at least three other people from that list who are also willing to change their votes to vote for Pelosi; however, Pelosi is the one who is tell them to rethink it.
Pelosi knows that those three elected Representatives campaigned on not voting for Pelosi. In order that they don't let their districts down, Pelosi is stopping the Reps from coming forward with their changed votes. Risky but brilliant strategy.

(3,344 posts)Many of those Dems can vote "present", which reduces the number of votes Pelosi needs to win. And they can claim they didn't vote for her.
