I don't know what you have or use but something under apps or options or tools is where they are hiding

I assume you are referring to MacOS with AcOS. At least Mac OS put it in the most logical area, the settings. In windows 10 you can access this also in their setting app, off what used to be the Start bubble, then selecting system, then notifications and actions.
Nothing is ever direct anymore, and I hate the Windows Edge browser.
I referred them to google it, because someone will provide a nice link with graphics to guide them through it

It suddenly showed up and I can't figure out how to get rid of it either. It's a pain.

(38,022 posts)In the address bar of your browser there's a little info icon, click it and you'll get a little drop-down menu where you can turn the notification off.
