If not, I hear there are some online dating services that sort people by political views, and I think there may even be some for liberals only? Even if nothing serious comes of it, you might find it fun to exchange flirtatious notes with someone for a while? (Assuming you even want to have anything to do with anyone right now. If not, it's completely understandable. :hug

(2,500 posts)It was a strong indication of what kind of disrespect he would show you in the future. Your political outlook was not his to change or control. Control freaks are always bad matches for any woman. It's an ominous sign for a relationship. Here's hoping you find someone who respects your point of view.

Many years ago I briefly dated a guy with some pretty Neanderthal ideas about women. The more I got to know him, I realized how ingrained this was. When I dumped him he was totally shocked and had no idea why I would find his viewpoint offensive! Probably beating his wife somewhere as we speak.
For me, this was a learning experience; I didn't realize that I was a feminist or liberal until that experience cleared it up.
Consider this a learning experience.

(26,544 posts)Even enjoyed Ian Pundette, but George Nooray kinda rubs me the wrong way. I wonder if it's because he is a RW wacko. Has had some of the RW lunatics on a few times like Jerome Corsi, and occasionally the talk turns political and he is definitely a RW'er. I think Art Bell was too, but he never really let it be obvious. But if C2C has an interesting topic, I might listen, it puts me to sleep anyway.

(918 posts)Art said that he normally doesn't talk about politics and then proceeded to say he voted for Obama.
I think Art has more "depth" than the typical crazy RW.
A little conservative on some issues. Liberal on others.

(16,399 posts)Snoory is awful with his index cards asking the same five questions (How did you get interested in this? Where can we find your book?) and John B Wells is a total right-wing goddamn loon. Fuck that asshole. George Knapp is hit or miss. I don't listen anymore.

(13,297 posts)and starting a personal journal/diary always helps! It can be amazing to look back in one of those over even just a few weeks and really see what is going on vs. always trying to figure it out day by day at the moment.
Plus it's good for the spirit. Best of luck!

You go, girl! It took guts and you did it. Congrats and kudos!

(11,304 posts)your car. He doesn't like it to bad. Here is an idea just tell him since you can't agree on politics that from now on you guys don't talk politics. If he starts remind him and if he continues walk away. You can't argue with yourself. It works. I did it in my family.

(75,480 posts)I find I can't deal with RWingers anymore, especially when they start regurgitating Heritage Foundation talking points and when I point out that they are being lied to, they won't admit it even when I present them with facts and figures. I figured out for my sanity that I have to cut them loose. The last RWinger I dated was so racist I had to cut our second date short cause I couldn't stand to listen to him anymore.
