The Oval Office is now Trump's panic room

Con man exposed: Trump’s acting so erratic because midterms made him look like a loser
Trump claimed a “great victory,” but knows better. He’s been betrayed by his party and his voters, and it shows

by: HEATHER DIGBY PARTON

.......................

...................the "Red Wave" didn't materialize and reality is starting to bite, and bite hard.

Trump feels betrayed by all those Republicans who failed to win and made him look like a loser. He's been stabbed in the back by Emmanuel Macron, his little buddy, who hasn't found that flattering Trump got him anywhere and has stopped trying. Kim Jong-un, the man who sends him "beautiful letters" after the two of them "fell in in love," is making a fool of him by continuing to build missile sites after Trump announced to the world that North Korea's nuclear threat was over. Then there's the latest in a long line of former intimates who've turned state's evidence, possibly including his old pal Roger Stone, who appears to be on the verge of indictment. Firing Sessions, the man who committed the original sin of following the rules instead of being his "Roy Cohn," hasn't made him feel any better.

I suspect the biggest reason for all this is the ultimate betrayal: His followers failed him by not voting in great enough numbers to defy all the predictions and prove that he is the biggest winner in American political history. He may not be stable and he may not be a genius, but right now he knows that he looks like a loser. Perhaps he also instinctively realizes that may just break the spell some of his voters have been under since he was unexpectedly elected two years ago -- the belief that even though he is personally a mess and his administration is nonstop chaos, he's an unbeatable giant-slayer, an omnipotent superhero who transcends the normal definition of leadership. He lost, and his followers will never see him the same way again.

Once a con man is exposed, he blows town and moves on to the next mark. But Donald Trump is the president of the United States. He's trapped and he has nowhere else to go.

Of course he won't. He's going to put this country through the pain and angst of shutting him down and ejecting all his corrupt administrators from their appointments. An honorable person would admit defeat and gracefully exit, or at least try to correct course for the better. Donald Trump doesn't give a twit about this country. To him, all that matters is his image.

Hey Donnie, you can only lie to yourself. Everyone can see your ego but you.

The instant he becomes FORMER pResident (by whatever mechanism that takes), he's gonna get slapped upside his orange yak-head with about a half a dozen State-level indictments.

If he hasn't managed to pardon himself by then, he's GOING to prison.

To accuse others, threaten, fire other people and blame them for it, and ignore the facts and claim something he makes up instead then pressures others to promote the lie. HE also knows its not working for him now. that's why so many are running from trump now, they know its over for him too. This election exposed him as a fraud , again. Mueller will too.

him, etc. (Not that he is a loser.)

Fox would welcome him and I think the "You're fired"show would welcome him back. He could have some sort of rally's to keep his ego happy. If somebody could just convince him of all this, he would be gone in a minute.

This was monumental in its implications for the USA and he conspired w a FOREIGN ENEMY to unjustly enrich himself and his family. Resigning isnt enough imo.

Trump really should have watched Arnold Schwarzenegger closer. Or maybe Jesse Ventura. You can only play they "outsider" card for so long. Pretty soon you're the guy in charge. One of the reasons Reagan was as successful as he was came from the fact that when he showed up, he immediately inserted himself into DC society and culture and embraced the position as the top dog. Arnold tried to force the legislature to do what he wanted by trying to circumvent them with state wide referendums, and then he lost one referendum and it was over and he had to work with the legislature.

When you hold much of your own party at arms length, not to mention keeping the other party out of the room altogether, pretty soon you find yourself standing alone.

And yesterday bragged about working with Dems on something. It was the first glimpse to me of any kind of self awareness. I have often wondered why he can’t see that if he changed he could possibly win some on-the-fencers. My worst nightmare..but so odd to me.
