I just want to make sure everyone knows Georgia's Secretary of State race went to a Dec. 4th runoff between John Barrow (D) and Brad Raffensperger (R).
This is the election to elect Brian Kemp's successor. So it should be obvious how important position is for voting rights.

Back in the 1990s, I watched election returns on TV with John Barrow and other Athens Democrats at Johns home.

(21,597 posts)They immediately redistricted and gerrymandered congressional districts in order to get him out of office. Athens is blue, so they split us in two and put each half with majority rural, red, wingnut areas. We ended up with nutcase Paul Broun Jr. as our congressman at one point.
John Barrow is from an old and prominent Athens, GA family. His father was a judge for many, many years. There are schools and streets with the Barrow name here in Athens.
