A disabled Air Force veteran this week voiced frustration with an MSNBC news crew for blocking handicapped parking spots outside of a polling site in Houston.
"Went to vote, and found this waiting for us," James Berrie, who has multiple sclerosis, wrote in a widely shared Facebook post. "The only van accessible spot and theyre filming in it. We asked them to move, pointed out how it was wrong, then went to vote, because it takes time to load up. But came out and still there. Not even packing up, still getting ready for their shot."
Berrie told a local CBS News affiliate that the MSNBC crew "kept coming back like, 'well move in two minutes.' "
'Well move in like three minutes. Were going live. Weve got a shot. Were going live in like three minutes. We gotta do this,' and were just like, 'No. You have to move. Its not right. You know its not right,'" Berrie told the outlet.

MSNBC reporter Mariana Atencio later apologized on Twitter for the incident.

It's perhaps the least threatening ticket a LEO can issue.
They can just place the ticket on the windshield of the car.
My daughter was in a nearby town's court, because some guy ran a stop sign and caused her accident.
Sitting there, we saw 4 or 5 cases, at over $400 a pop! Talk about an easy money-maker!

(14,510 posts)Set a camera tripod right on top of the huge handicap logo, as if it were their private spotting marker.
They should be fined by police and reprimanded by their employer. Any of us certainly would be!......

They apologized and did the right thing but, geez.

Thank God someone is working to stop this scourge of media trucks parking in disabled spaces. Next time I see someone parking in a restricted space without a sticker I'm going to punch them right in the face.

(32 posts)maybe not fired but there should be consequences besides just social media shaming and saying "oops sorry" on twitter.

(42,785 posts)Apologies don't mean shit when spoken after the fact. The crew got
what they wanted and went on to ignore the rules somewhere else.
The camera being set up right on top of the handicap symbol looks
deliberate and is particularly offensive.
