(2,896 posts)although that's related to the alcohol. (Even though he wasn't the married one, the circumstances were crappy enough.) Of course, W had a history with alcohol and Clinton and that thing in the White House both had (known) affairs... It's hard to predict what will be considered disqualifying in the future, given the normalization of so much that would have previously been unthinkable. Is it just this one vile guy who gets a pass, or will this lower the bar for all future candidates?

(2,896 posts)to texting for CA congressional candidates at the SF Red to Blue headquarters in the video. (I think the headquarters is funded by Nancy Pelosi's office.) My daughter is quadriplegic with a speech disability, and while she wasn't able to phone bank for Hillary Clinton (given her speech disability, since they didn't have the texting option then), she worked full days for several weeks before election day doing data entry with one finger. Some of the same Clinton volunteers and paid workers are involved in this effort, too, and they had my daughter come check the accessibility beforehand. She had previously visited that space to volunteer for Mark Leno during the SF mayoral election (decided in June). Now, they have it set up so volunteers can text by computer... and there are canned replies to certain responses... and for other responses or questions, she can wing it or direct them to a website or even ask someone. She has really enjoyed this innovation, since it provides a way for her to interact directly with potential voters. Gavin is pretty much a shoo-in, but the outreach she does for Gavin always includes a congressional candidate, too, from other districts in CA. I think the Gavin outreach also includes outreach for candidates for the state assembly and senate.
