I have been hearing this all day long by pundit after pundit.
Do you know how I know that that claim is bullshit? How many Kavanaugh supporters got their asses to DC to protest in favor of this judge? How many pro Kavanaugh supporters got arrested supporting this nomination? How many pro Kavanaugh supporters were in the hallways of Congress yelling at the Democrats to support this nominee?
I am pretty sure it's about five none and none.
Republicans were not fired up about Trump and the GOP and the elections and trumps agenda before all this started.
If they got fired up at all now, recently, it was because they were about to lose to the Liberals. That's it. This is all just a game to them.
Well they won. The game is over in their mind.
In a week they won't even remember what the fight was about while our side will still be raging.
In two weeks they will be wondering why the hell Rosanne is no longer on their favorite show.
In 3 weeks, up to 3% of these old crusty Crypt creepers might not even be with us anymore do to their advanced age.
And in 4 weeks Republicans, after having been told again and again that there is no Blue Wave, that the only wave that's coming is red, will decide to just chill out stay home watch Duck Dynsastyy and wait for the returns showing how massive that redwave really is.
And then reality is going to smack those motherfuckers in the face.

(19,348 posts)David Gergen (who sucks up oxygen from those more worthy) said the financial crisis could help McCain because people
would be looking for experience. Johnny chose Palin to be his running mate. That should have disqualified him right there!

(1,148 posts)Kavanaugh is still much more unpopular in the polls than he is popular. He's taking a drubbing on social media and will continue to do so. I just watched bits of the hearings again, and those old white farts just look ridiculous. You'd have to be an awful judge of character to think they looked good. The more the clips get aired, the more ridiculous it appears. They are making a mistake wasting so much energy on this.

(63,941 posts)and this POS don the thug done for them NOTHING to advance their quality of life???? Nothing, just taken away healthcare, treating farmers like shit, and just giving away money (our money) to the very rich, and taking away funds from health, children and other programs to fund his baby prisons and take away children from their parents, we still don't know what the hell is going on with that right? They keep information away from us, what I get from that is how deceitful and guilty they are. They have no respect for us PERIOD. They proved that a number of times.

(33,222 posts)If they thought they could hurt the Democrats in general and as it turns out after today, Women in particular.
The hate they hold for anyone not exactly like them... And, I mean exactly. Is raw and unwavering. They have no capacity for empathy, compromise, or grace.
Republicans have absolutely no redeeming qualities and until we realize that the rules we hold dear are being used against us and are actually the Republican's greatest vulnerability, the status quo will continue.

(14,565 posts)If we don't understand that, or deny it, we flunk psychology.
Their voters went way outside the box and succeeded, despite all odds and sustained mockery. They view Trump as a savior and a crusade. There is no chance they are going to sit back and allow it to be taken away due to their own laziness.
For those reasons the enthusiasm and motivation gap this cycle will be less than typical, not greater than typical. We have benefited for months by misguided polling that wrongly proposed low energy on the GOP side. It is similar to early fall 2016 when nonsense polling had Republicans not backing Trump in typical percentage. Once that normalized the gap narrowed, even before James Comey changed history.
Our fate rests with independent voters. Nothing else. We will not win via motivation or turnout. Every poll can basically be ignored other than the preference of independent voters. It shouldn't be difficult to find. There will be one article and news segment after another regarding independent voters and what they are thinking/how they are shifting.

(33,222 posts)Oh, the Krapignaw fiasco energized the Republican base so they won. Everything. Overwhelmingly.
Also, Democratic voters simply didn't show up at the polls.
They used a similar story line in 2010, 2014, and 2016.
Even though my Mom passed on Election Day 2014, I can still remember the events clearly as EVERY.SINGLE.WITHOUT.EXCEPTION.REPUBLICAN.SENATORIAL.CANDIDATE.WON. Defying, all reasonable explanations and raw statistical probability. Probability says they would have lost one or two of the races. BUT.THEY.WON.ALL.NINE! I realized it was rigged and nothing has changed.
There's no fucking way that would happen in fair, open, and honest elections.
