Trump's new NAFTA auto rules may not boost U.S. jobs

Proposed changes to North American auto trade rules expected in the new NAFTA pact are unlikely to significantly increase U.S. manufacturing jobs or boost wages in Mexico, an analyst at the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Mich. said.

"The big upshot is there's nothing in this agreement that looks like lots of jobs are coming to the U.S.,” Kristin Dziczek, vice president of industry, labor and economics at the auto industry think tank, said in an interview on Wednesday about the details of new U.S.-Mexico trade agreement.

“On the margin, there may be some tweaks — companies moving content [production] to the higher wage region, which is the U.S. or Canada basically. There's nothing in this agreement that raises wages in Mexico," Dziczek said.

That blunt assessment of one of the major components of the new U.S.-Mexico deal could spell trouble for President Donald Trump when he presents Congress with a fully revamped NAFTA deal.

Really takes a while to sift thru all his hyperbolic BS. It's corrosive to mental health.

And I'm certain lots of Trump voters will start quoting his crap. We'll probably discover he lied 30-40 times in his announcement today.

Another great sideshow, though.

Kudos for Canada for standing firm on autos, cultural protections and dispute resolution...what Shitler said he wanted, all for show remember, was never going to be conceded as it has never been for 40 years of trade.

Trump Airlines
Trump Steaks
Trump University

And on and on and on...

The guy is a carnival barker and this is going to be part of his re-election stump speech to rapturous applause...it is nothing more or less than taking something, breaking it, partially fixing it and claiming it is now the "best ever in the history of deals".

I want to puke that this is so effective on the low-attention span voters of this shithole country.

Trump has stabbed the American consumer in their pocket books with his half assed Tax Breaks and his continuous Societal disruptions.

The first segment to feel this wrath is the Ag Community, things are happening in real time to cause a massive farm crisis. Trump is bribing the Soybean Growers but pissed off the Corn, wheat, and Dairy people. Phone call yesterday to a Farmer Freind in the Mid west was troubling for the fact it is prime Harvest time and zero new possible sales for his Corn or Beans. His Corn contract with the local Wet Corn Mill has expired and the Mill is working grower against grower in order to break the local cash price paid.

Looking like one cold ugly winter for the Heartland.
