the woman who questioned Professor Blasey Ford last Thursday on behalf of Republican senators, is the chief of the Special Victims Division of the Maricopa County Attorneys Office, and has worked for the county attorneys office for 26 years.
Ms. Mitchell oversees between 40 and 50 people in her division, and has a history of investigating years-old sex crimes and allegations that are difficult to corroborate.
When Mitch McConnell described retaining Ms. Mitchell as having hired a female assistant, it spoke volumes about his and his partys view of women.
Had the GOP retained a male lawyer with Ms. Mitchells credentials and experience, it is beyond unimaginable that McConnell would have described him as a male assistant.
They always give themselves away.

(2,279 posts)is called a female assistant because shes a woman.
But George Papadopoulos, who claimed he was mostly a coffee boy, is a foreign policy advisor to the President.

(33,632 posts)I had a female assistant years ago. She was excellent at warning me about snakes. She loved biscuits and belly rubs. She never liked wearing a collar, though.
I will be happy when we fire our male servant. Amoral Mitch has not been a good waterboy for the people of Kentucky. He consumes too much for himself and carries too much to those who did not hire him and do not pay his wages. He has also managed to taint and corrupt too much of the commons, spreading bad water to the whole nation.
There were probably 2 reasons for Kentucky's poorly performing waterboy to emphasize the gender of the attorney: 1. To impress his base voters with how fair and balanced GOP would treat Dr. Ford; 2. To disarm and preempt any arguments from Democrats that the all-male Republican side of the judiciary committee might have or represent any hint of misogyny.
Our waterboy in the Senate is a failure. I beg the country's forgiveness on behalf of those in my state who are not part of the Fox Cult of Disinformation.

(27,822 posts)... emphasized her gender - it was known all along that the GOP would be hiring a female to question Professor Ford.
It's about McConnell describing her as a "female assistant", instead of the highly-credentialled and experienced lawyer that she is.

It's disgusting and insulting and typical Mitch.
"Female assistant"
female -- Take note, ye who criticize the pale, old, males of the GOP on the committee.
assistant -- A hireling, not to be elevated to the level of the pale, old, males of the GOP on the committee.
