Janna Little Ryan’s Grandfather Ran for Governor, Helped George Wallace

1970s State Politician Buried

Saturday, December 4, 1993

Funeral services for Reuel W. Little, a Madill lawyer and rancher who played a major role in the formation of a third political party in Oklahoma in the 1960s, were Friday in Madill.

Little, 92, who was the American Party’s candidate for governor in 1970, died Wednesday.

In 1967, Little and a group began planning for the formation of a third political party to push the candidacy of former Alabama Gov. George Wallace for president.

The group, like many in other states, formed the American Party and made Wallace its presidential candidate.

The American Independent Party is a right-wing political party of the United States that was established in 1967 by Bill and Eileen Shearer. It is most notable for its nomination of Alabama Governor George C. Wallace, who carried five states in the 1968 presidential election running on a segregationist platform. The party split in 1976 into the modern American Independent Party and the American Party. From 1992 until 2008 the party was the California affiliate of the national Constitution Party, with its exit from the Constitution Party leading to a leadership dispute during the 2008 election.

3. Former Senator David Boren (D-OK) was married to the same Little family

Oklahoma governor and U.S. Senator David L. Boren, the son of former Oklahoma Congressman Lyle H. Boren and Christine McKown Boren, was born in Washington, D.C., April 21, 1941. After attending public schools in Seminole, Oklahoma, and Bethesda, Maryland, he went to Yale University, graduating in 1963. A Rhodes scholar at Oxford University in England, he completed a master's degree in 1965. In 1968 he received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Shortly after graduating from law school, Boren married Janna Lou Little, the daughter of Oklahoma politician Reuel Little of Madill, who ran for governor as the candidate for the American Party in 1970. The couple had two children, Dan and Carrie, before the marriage ended in divorce in 1975.

But he escaped her clutches and subsequently remarried.

the son of David & Janna Little.

Janna Little Ryan is the daughter of one of David's sibs. IOW, Janna Ryan Little & Daniel Boren are first cousins.

The family relationships are confusing because there's a lot of naming people after each other.

This is as relevant as trying to find something Barack Obama's grandfather did in Kenya. Janna was a little baby when her grandfather was a candidate for governor.

I sure as hell hope I'm not held to that standard.

Christ, it was Oklahoma in 1970, Richard fucking Nixon was President, and that was even after George Wallace bled off most all of the racist vote. I'm going to allow for the possibility that Janna Little Ryan has probably moved on from that sort of racism, most white Americans have a good amount of that in their family tree.

& related to national bigshots, and have been for a couple of generations. the connection to wallace suggests a longstanding connection to the segregationist/religious right.

that network has been in existence for generations with the same families in place.

on what is ancient history to the young voters that Romney and Ryan are going to try to seduce away with their "plan", then you have every right to stay there. I'd rather that we focus on why our plan is better, rather than spending time casting aspersions on the wife of the VP nominee based on what her dead grampa thought.

David Boren (President of OU) was having breakfast with director of the CIA, George Tenet, his hand-picked useful idiot during the Clinton administration.

Boren is a total snake.

Also of interest, when Boren was running for Governor of Oklahoma his father-in-law, Ruell Little, put out the word that David was a HOMOSEXUAL. Boren called a press conference and placed his hand on the bible and said: "I am not nor have I ever been a homosexual." This was not a true statement.

12. A Brief Introduction to Janna Ryan, Potential Second Lady
Sun Aug 12, 2012, 04:29 PM
Aug 2012
Janna hails from remote Madill, Oklahoma (pop. 3818), but enjoyed educational privilege growing up. She and her sisters attended the exclusive Camp Waldemar school in Hunt, Texas, before heading off to Wellesley College just outside Boston. After graduation, Janna found her way to Washington, D.C., where she attended law school at George Washington University, and eventually landed a job at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Arlington, Va. It was during that period that she met Ryan, just 30 years old and starting his first term in the House.

The two enjoyed a political connection, albeit across party lines. Janna had previously worked on the Hill as an aide to Oklahoma congressman Bill Brewster, a Democrat. Her first cousin Dan Boren is now a Democratic congressman from Oklahoma. (He released a warm statement on Saturday saying that Janna was sure to be “Paul’s strongest supporter on the campaign trail.”) When her engagement to Ryan was made public, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel said Janna was “depriving Congress of one of its more eligible bachelors.”

Janna was well-known in Washington as well. At PricewaterhouseCoopers–and later at Williams & Jensen–she worked as a lobbyist, representing clients from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to Conoco, according to OpenSecrets.org But she abandoned K Street when she and Ryan wed in 2000, surprising some in D.C. who saw her as an up-and-coming power broker.
