Lets just suppose that date rape of 4 decades ago shouldnt be judged by todays cultural norms, and that Mr. K should be given benefit of doubt. You and Iknow that it matters, absolutely, but lets just set it aside for a moment.
So then the question becomes - what about the preponderance of all the other reasons to not confirm this shady character?
The fact is this guy, more than the others, crosses the line between being a conservative leaning justice and being an overt republican operative.
This article was an eye opener While written as an opinion piece Mr Nichols lays out factual, verifiable info why Mr K should not only not be confirmed, but should have current judgeship revoked.

(1,124 posts)in 2004 and 2006. Frustrates me no end ... How the hell can he continue to be a judge when he lied under oath and why is MSM not adequately covering this?

(10,721 posts)The whole conversation revolves around whether or not he should be promoted. In a sane world, he would lose the job he currently has. Actually, he never would have been appointed a federal judge in the first place.

(75 posts)I think the dems have been catphished by the PR agency working for Kavanaugh, and are focusing on the wrong fight. Even if Dr. Ford is a convincing and sympathetic witness, the republicans will still approve of Kavanaugh's nomination and he will squeak by. The MSM media seems eager to package it all as 'she said, he said, let's all just move on'.
By contrast, his confirmation would be much harder to achieve if he can be proven to be a liar multiple times over (with documents), and if his very fishy finances are fully exposed (again, with documents).

(10,131 posts)It is outrageous that they overlook his lying.

(1,752 posts)people into a drama vs. provide useful factual information. Im afraid that content of a sexual and emotional nature is of more interest to more people vs. details of a Senate proceeding.
This thread and its meager responses is kinda proof of that I think.
Well I guess I write to my senators and blast them about it. Its good thereapy if nothing else.

(2,192 posts)Of course, it should already disqualify him. But maybe in the long run it's better this way than if he steps down now for a more qualified nominee.

(58,785 posts)This was introduced the first day, I believe. Poor Dr. Ford should never have had to put herself through what she has. There's so much important, recent and documented reason related directly to his work to deny him confirmation for.
