The Republicans could have saved us all a lot of time by simply stating the bleedin obvious at the start of today's hearing:
We are withholding the vast majority of Kavanaughs record because that record is chock-full of shit we dont want seen by Democrats, or by the American citizenry at large.
While we are hopeful that Kavanaugh will overturn Roe-v-Wade, our real focus is seating a Supreme Court justice who will, should the time come, save the ass of the lying, racist, Russia-colluding, pussy-grabbing traitor we put in the White House.
There

The rest is theater.

(27,822 posts)The fact that Kavanaugh has explicitly stated that he thinks a president should not be subject to investigation or questioning under any circumstances has nothing to do with it.
Of course the Republicans have a corporate-friendly agenda - always have, always will. But the fact is that there are any number of qualified conservative candidates for SCOTUS who would have advanced that agenda without hesitation.
At this particular juncture, defending Trump is Job One for the GOP. They know that if he goes down, their party goes down with him. All other considerations are irrelevant.
