(14,177 posts)That was back when I thought the GOP wasn't going to be stupid enough to pick Romney. I so wanted them to pick him. But, I didn't think they would. I am learning. Never underestimate the stupidity of the GOP.

(27,985 posts)If there are lessons to be learned from us in WI, they include the one that ends with, "shit really can get all fucked up."

(12,154 posts)Then Reagan got elected.
A couple decades, once again I thought, "This guy could NEVER get elected!"
Then W got (s)elected.

(28,158 posts)Actually, I waffled back and forth from him. As it turns out, the GOP doesn't really want the Independent vote.
Shows what I know!

(28,158 posts)But, did you lay odds on the outcome?
Good to see you.

Never underestimate the power of the stupid voters is my motto.

(16,844 posts)in order to get a good turnout from the Southern bigots. As everyone knows, Mississippi is very Republican, but there is hardly any enthusiasm for Romney down here. Right now I'm seeing more Obama stickers than Romney stickers. That might change after the convention, though. Romney doesn't need a big turnout to win this state, of course, but he needs to motivate people in NC, VA, and OH. I thought Portman would be the obvious choice for Romney, but what do I know?

(89 posts)Older flip-flopper picks younger far right nutjob to shore up disinterested base. I don't see undecideds flocking to Rmoney over this, Rubio is who I was worrying about.
I live in deep red KS and haven't seen 1 yard sign for ole Mitt, but I've seen two for Obama/Biden.
Your witch comment made me think of Monty Python, off topic but funny.

(175,735 posts)I had thought -- for the sake of a diverse ticket -- the VP nominee would be Marco Rubio. Silly me.
Instead, we get the boring white guy country club ticket.
