Embedded in her musings were two aggressive proposals for overhauling American business. One is the Accountable Capitalism Act, which would require the largest corporations to allow workers to choose 40 percent of their board seats. The proposal is meant to provide an antidote to short-term thinking in the biggest businessesand to short-circuit the ease with which CEOs make decisions that enrich themselves at the expense of workers and the underlying health of their firm. A similar system exists in Germany, and it goes by the name codetermination.
A second set of proposals is what Warren calls the Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act. Warren has called for a frontal assault on lobbying, including a lifetime prohibition that would prevent federal officeholders (including the president, members of Congress ,and Cabinet secretaries) from ever becoming paid influence peddlers. Her argument is that lobbying undermines the functioning of markets, by permitting corporations to exert outsize control over the regulatory state and use government to squash competitors.

(7,725 posts)She is right on point. Anytime we say..."We need a socialist govt" etc, the right jumps on it. This is sticking to Capitalism, but, fixing it so it works for everybody. I like it, and her. I was praying HRC would choose her as VP. I was also ok w the 'other guy' in the primary being VP but I wish he'd just stick to his job and contribute more like EW.

(58,785 posts)socialized programs where they're the best answer. Any other economic systems compatible with a free, moral nation established on liberal principles when and where they might work best. Progressive government of, by and for the people that genuinely serves the people's will.
That's not brilliance. It's just common sense.
Btw, this is a moderate economic conservative who is so respected in the Democratic Party. She was a Republican for most of her adult life until hard-core, white nationalist, authoritarian social conservatives and big-money interests increasingly took over, purging the ideals of traditional conservatism that were in their way. Instead of just claiming an independent label but still voting Republican like most who mistake partisanship for principles, she moved her fight for what she believes to the Democratic Party.
