Howard Lorber, a Manhattan developer and executive chairman of Nathans Famous Inc., the hot dog company, is hosting a fundraiser for President Donald Trump in the Hamptons, according to two people familiar with the event.
SNIP:
Last year, Trump described Lorber as one of his two best friends. In 1996, Trump and Lorber traveled to Moscow together to explore business opportunities.
Lorber was an economic adviser to Trumps 2016 presidential campaign. And the president last year appointed him chairman of the board of trustees for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
Lorber is chief executive officer of the Vector Group, parent company of the New York real estate powerhouse Douglas Elliman Realty. He didnt respond to requests for comment.

(29,557 posts)Last time we ate Nathan's my wife and I both got sick to our stomachs.
That has never happened with Hebrew Nationals

(31,261 posts)But most big consumer companies are sensitive to how they are perceived and avoid divisive entanglements. I like the brand and find it to be the most consistent national brand. I have occasionally run across good regional hotdogs that give them a run for their money, but can't find them in Florida. I like natural casing hotdogs, that is where the regionals sometime excel, just give me one, a fresh roll and a spot of mustard, nirvana.

(12,132 posts)but they changed something a few years ago and we didn't like it. No idea what but the taste was just different and bad. So we tried a lot of brands and landed on Hebrew National and loved them so much we were kinda mad we hadn't tried them before. All those years we coulda' been eating HN dogs.
So not buying Nathans's isn't really a thing for me since I never did anyway but I'll be sure not to buy them in the future if I'm out and need a bite and there's a stand near by. I'll keep on walking to something else.
And oh, I didn't know about Sam Adams. I think I still have a couple in the beer fridge since they sometimes have decent sales on combo packs. I like to try lots of styles and a sampler pack is a good deal. I don't like SA beer as much as lot of others but I did buy them occasionally. Not any more.

(2,437 posts)They really do. Tastes like processed chemicals. So glad I can't stand them.
Is there a place to find out which commercial products are owned by right-wing enablers? I always boycott products I know come from right wing nuts. I'd rather eat dirt than a slice of Papa John's pizza or wipe my ass with my sleeve instead of toilet paper made by the Kochs.

(11,575 posts)If you use Soft n Gentle, Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Brawny, or repurposed American Greeting Christmas cards to wipe (way to recycle, by the way!), youre handing money to the Koch machine.

(29,199 posts)we need a list of CEO / owners who are FOT (Friends of Trump) and we need to boycott them all... until it hurts.
Papa Johns is a clear example of what can happen to these assholes.

(31,233 posts)never buy another pack. I prefer Hebrew National, but Nathan's are routinely BOGO around here, whereas Hebrew National are very rarely on sale.

(11,949 posts)Figure if you look close enough most large companies have some shady practices. Plus, the fat cats will not be made poor even the boycott is effective and puts them out of business. But the employees who may well be democrats are hurt.
That said, dont much like Nathans. I look for local brands with natural casings. Love that snap when biting a dog. Of course I dont eat even one a month.
