50 Democratic candidates have said they won't vote for Pelosi - and GOP is STILL

running ads about her and the MSM is STILL asking anyone with a pulse if she's a liability.

So can we stop already with the "it's fine for Dems to distance themselves from Pelosi because it takes the issue off the table" excuses for playing right into the GOP's hands?

3. Reminds me of hearing Meghan McCain saying she knows what Democrats think like she is an

Expert and a Democrat. I get pissed hearing repukes saying they are such experts on how liberals think!

4. So This Is What Winning Looks Like

beat up one of the most successful leaders the Dems have/had. Raises buckets of money for them...over 600 Mil. They don't do this to Con men leaders. What if the Dems refused to aid the Cons in their distraction meme?

5. Personally, I don't think we win elections by running away from who we really are.

I think we win them by being proud of the things we stand for.

7. Pretty sure he explained the entire thing in the 1st tweet

Social security, health care, woman... of course the GOP hates her.

This is the EXACT same shit that went on with Hillary... "she has too much 'baggage' because the misogynist right wingers hate her"... duh that means she's doing shit right!

20. That is what gets me hot.

It's the republicans' job to bash the opposition...what excuse do the Democrats have? "The republicans made me do it?" Are they still in first grade?

11. She's been great and being a woman definitely is part of the reason for the hate

Nobody talks about Steny Hoyer stepping down, and he's a year older than Pelosi. Personally, I think if anybody in the Dem leadership steps down in the House, it should be him. Not that he's terrible, just to get somebody younger in leadership.

I know next to nothing about Linda Sanchez and Ben Ray Lujan, the next two below Crowley.

15. +1000

He nailed it. The only thing wrong with Nancy Pelosi is that she is a Democrat and she's a woman. It amazes me how they are able to demonize perfectly competent, successful Democrats while somehow avoiding criticism of the worst of their own.

23. SM, that's TWO things "wrong" with Pelosi

And if you are a Dem who doesn't like her that only leaves one reason for you to feel that way. Hmmmm, 2016 all over again. Will we ever learn?

9. I haven't heard anyone say distancing themselves from Pelosi take the issue off the table...

...the bottom line is that there's a growing number of people in the Caucus (and among the candidates I've talked to) that have publicly stated the need for new leadership. That's an issue to be addressed.

10. and what do we say to the women of our party when they see an amazingly effective woman

replaced by some man who has been in Congress for all of five minutes? This is what happens to them all the time in the work world and it isn't going to look pretty.

18. Obviously

That they should shut up, sit down, and take up knitting. /sarcasm

I’ve yet to hear any Democrat articulate anything but ageism for why she should step aside. Funny how that’s never an issue for men.

14. One of the reasons Pelosi's supposedly been around so long is that

it TOOK A WOMAN 20 plus effing years to get into a position of power!!!” And then when she gets there, she’s told to step aside for “new” leadership - which is almost always some big-mouthed guy who’s been there 20 minutes, and doesn’t have a fraction of her skill, knowledge and experience.

19. actually she also started quite late in life

as she waited until her children were adults before even running for the House. She didn't run for Congress until she was nearly 50. In contrast Hoyer ran for the Maryland State Senate in 1966 when he was 27. Had she not had to wait for her children to be grown she could have been speaker in her 50's instead of her 60's.

24. You're acting like she's had a brief reign - only Sam Rayburn served longer than her as House Party

Leader for the Democrats - a little over 21 years for Rayburn vs 16 years at the end of this term for Pelosi. (For the Republicans, only Joseph Martin served longer as Party Leader than Pelosi (20 years until he was ousted in 1958)). The big difference between the two of course is that Rayburn ranks #1 for length of time as Speaker (17 years 53 days) and Pelosi ranks #18 (4 years 1 day).

13. Chuck Todd's lead story tonight: "Democrats' Pelosi Problem"

He actually referred to her as “the undertow” to the Blue Wave.

The GOP creates a false narrative, the media picks it up and hammers Dems with it. But instead of fighting back, Democrats accept and then join in to the narrative. Then the media turns it from a narrative, into THE story.

It is beyond stupid for Democrats to claim they have taken this off the table or diffused it in any way. They’ve given it oxygen and legs and it’s not going away unless they shut it down NOW.

16. Blue Tsunami 🌊🌊🌊Pelosi needs to maintain her spot at the top.

Detractors can kick rocks because Nancy's gonna be in charge until she decides it's time to move on. ImWithHer.

17. And, especially, they hate her because she's a EFFECTIVE woman leader.

The only person they might hate worse would be an effective black woman Speaker.
