Marsha Blackburn: Women 'Don't Want' Equal Pay Laws

John Oberlin@OMGno2trump
1h1 hour ago
I'm pretty sure none of the woman I know are against equal pay for women. It's an incredibly stupid thing to say. But if she's really against it, I suggest Congress starts paying her less. I'd like to see her walk her crazy talk.

Agree with John Oberlin..federal gov't should reduce her salary NOW.

OTHER women to have equal pay. But basically it's the rich corporatists, who don't want to PAY women eaually. Or pay anyone for that matter. Keep wages low to maximize profits.

I grew up in TN and women largely voted the way their husbands voted. Not necessarily because that's what their husbands explicitly told them to do (though that is the case with many), but because that's what a Southern woman does. She follows the head of the house.

This is not to say that there are not plenty of independent women in TN who will vote however they want. There are also a good number who will tell everyone they voted for the GOP when they didn't. Just to keep peace in the family.

The 2016 election reminded me of this phenomenon. White women voted for Trump in numbers I do not understand. If I recall correctly, the age of those white women tended toward being middle-aged women. The same ones I grew up with who still think they should be living in a fictional Leave It To Beaver reality where good wives follow their husband's lead on everything.

Those women live in TN and they will hear their husbands and husband's friends at gatherings say over and over again that those equal pay laws are wrong. That they aren't needed. That men are the head of the house and DESERVE to be paid more. They will buy into those thoughts and this will not affect her as negatively as it should.

Marsha had followed her own rules . . . Then she wouldn't have that microphone to spew this nonsense.

I bring up the ill-fated Mrs. Ceaucescu because I've known people in the Clarksville area who know Blackburn.

One of them is a prominent physician who happens to be one of NW Tennessee's best-known Democratic supporters. She's never run for any office that I know of; but she contributes to Democrats, hosts fundraisers, etc.

Not that many people willing to do that in that district, as you can well imagine.

To make a long story short, she began to notice that, time and again, she was being blocked from boarding flights on account of being on the no fly list (!).

Suffice it to say, she make some inquiries and sure enough: someone gave her good reason to believe the congresswoman was behind it.

Can you imagine if this Madam Pompadour gets herself into the Senate!

Requests - illegal requests - to have law-abiding Americans put on no-fly lists merely because they criticize him on cable news, etc.

You might recall that the Bush regime was very fond of this tactic. Ted Kennedy, Al Gore, and numerous others reported being on either no-fly lists, or worse: on enhanced screening (i.e. finger-up-the-butt) lists.

I bet you Cheeto's tried - but this time, they've said no. One hopes, anyway.

Thanks as always for insights. Have a great weekend!
