So why do you think those Republican Senators went to Russia?

My guess is that they want to overthrow the midterm elections.
November is looking dire for Republicans so they are hoping Russia will get involved again and swing things back their way.
They would be meeting with Russians to offer any help they can to illegally keep themselves in power.

Does anyone have any other justifications for them meeting with the officials that are accused of manipulating the last election?

Gotta keep the Putin cash flowing to the GOP campaign cash funnels.

I noticed that none of these GOP stooges on the RussiaAppreciationCommitte were GOP Senators up for reelection. I guess they think that avoids voter blowback. They shamelessly grovelled and fawned as much at the Kremlin as they all regularly do in front of the Koch Bros. Same script now.

And on the same day that the majority GOP Senate finally released their minimal statement that Putin interfered in our election to elect Trump It's like the GOPwanted to sent personal fluffers to reassure Putin that they were still working for him just in case he felt betrayed by the report.

Mailers, in banner ads online and everywhere else. Asking why are republican senators hanging out with the Russians? Are they colluding with Russia to overthrow our country? Looks traitorous to me.

response to Mueller's revealing them as paid participants in the Russian rigging of our 2016 election. And, they need a new plan to rig the 2018 and 2020 elections to maintain the ongoing coverup.

And then their actions after the visit.... It's all about the sanctions with Russia. Meeting in the trump tower was about adoptions?? That was the buzzword but the reason Russia stopped adoptions was b/c of the SANCTIONS... duh.

In addition to making sure the right cyber attacks occur at the right times (email leaks, database hacking, etc) they need to have their lies straight when the time comes to deny everything.

More complicated is how to hide foreign contributions; that is slightly tricky (for now anyways) due to our darn pesky campaign laws. So the setting up of correct shell accounts, funneling money through the NRA, buying social media ads, arranging fake rallies, etc - all of that is really hard if you want to ensure that it doesn't look like an outside hit job. I don't think most people appreciate how difficult all that stuff is.

When they say they want to "work with Russia" you should take them at their word.

they're uber-capitalist now. But I'm a child of the 80s. And I always felt cooperation with the USSR was the best option. Even with their disgusting human rights record. I didn't think that much better if our shadow government. But I always figured blue jeans and rock would win over a sizable enough portion of their population. So we could end up making the world a better place by being better and them being better.

Now though. I straight up think these motherfuckers are there to "kiss the ring" and get assurances. That the current Russian mafia will do what's needed to ensure right wing 'Puke -so called Christian- rule in this country. I 100% believe these assholes know they are a dying species and will cut whatever deal helps keep them in power.

If people in whatever's left of this republic don't wake the fuck up by November. I don't know what we'll be left with. Again, this is coming from an unapologetic leftist with very little confidence in some of our institutions. These rancid goat fuckers will sell their own mothers to retain power no matter who the highest bidder is.

it's putin and the russian billionaires that's the problem. We need to start stirring up the russian people. It tips putin over. See the Arab Spring and the Hillary Connection to the same. Grassroots russians need to police their own leaders.

If they visit, it will give them credibility in discussions of Russia despite knowing next to nothing about it. It will also give them talking points to be able to say some nice things about Russia after Putin takes Trump to the cleaners.

They'll hear things from Russian citizens like, "I was eating the Borscht I have to eat every night on my poor surgeon's salary and drinking four glasses of vodka before bedtime when I heard that Putin's stooges took away my brother Dmitri."

And the Republicans will repeat back to them, "So you, a Russian surgeon, were having some tasty Russian Borscht and sipping a glass of vodka when some highly placed Russian citizens paid a visit to speak with your brother?"

And the guy will say, "No. Was four glasses of vodka in order to get very drunk. It takes four now. And they took my brother away to prison."

And the Republicans will say, "Well, in order to get to four glasses, didn't you have to drink one first?"

"Yes"

"So you did have one glass then, right?"

"Yes, I..."

"And your brother. Before they took him away, they were talking with him and he was talking with them, right? A conversation."

"You Republicans should just stay here. You would do well."

"Ha ha, thanks. We like it back in America. But we are happy to learn some things from you that we can take back and apply at home."

I've missed a few days of news.

What reason do republicans have for going to Moscow? They are not our ally. Was this a trade mission? Were they summoned by Putin who has blackmail leverage over them? Are they active agents of Russia? Are they getting the Soviet Union back together?
