(6,551 posts)If we go far left, we lose the independents and moderate Dems which presently comprise about half of the party.
You want to see what hell really looks like? Trump's years as the re-elected president.

(29,155 posts)The Dems could use Parliamentary procedures to delay.
Azathoth
(4,611 posts)I just don't see that lasting very long. Even in theory, it will only delay things for a short time (unless Democrats start applying it to non-related business and effectively shut down the Senate).

Tweety was pissed and Kornacki was such an idiot and ass kisser and clueless that it was a good thing tweety was in another studio because he was ready to punch Kornacki and make him just STFU

(31,261 posts)I remember the early 80s with Reagan in office and the 6-3 conservative rulings. People EXOECTED Roe v Wade to be repealed then, it didn't happen.
My guess? Most gay teens will stay in the closet and head for a blue state as soon as they can. Young females that value choice will do the same. Red states will lose a lot of their best minds and continue to fall father behind blue states economically and socially.

(50,379 posts)procedural tactic Democrats could use, but Tweety kept talking over him. That's the question I want answered.

(15,327 posts)All Dems, really only 1 Dem or I Ind, have to do is object to motions for unanimous consent. Everything would need a roll call vote and herding senators to vote takes time. No business would be transacted.
Dems could also start selectively leaking what they know about Trump and Russia and election tampering.

And for starters, no unanimous consent for ANYTHING. Grind the Senate to a halt, unless we can guarantee 2 Republicans will flip.

(1,186 posts)If it's the exchange in the video on the main page now, then Matthews is quite dickish to Kornacki, in my opinion. Matthews' passion about blocking this nominee is right, but Kornacki is simply asking him what the path forward is, NOT saying that there's nothing the Dems can do.
Kornacki is just asking what the strategy is for the 49-member Democratic caucus to pick off two Republican votes, and Matthews just says, "THE DEMOCRATIC BASE WON'T ALLOW IT IF THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP GIVES IN!" So Kornacki asks what the tool is to delay this nomination, and Matthews says he's not a parliamentarian. Much ado about nothing.
