(19,074 posts)I hope he looks at the chaos he helped create in our country. I know he's been critical of Trump, but his rhetoric for decades helped usher in a fascist strongman into power in our country. Krauthammer helped create this and helped destroy our Democracy.

(30,481 posts)On the simple fact I don't think America is "destroyed". Not even sure what that means.

(33,345 posts)Krauthammer has been a malignant force in the RW Noise machine, putting a faux-intellectual polish on their curdled thoughts for nearly my entire adult life.
I will not mourn his passing. The only tragedy is that he will not be joined by several other propagandists of the same ilk.

(30,481 posts)I don't think you are being asked to mourn his passing.
I do not wish death upon others as you have done. I find it to be sick.

(33,345 posts)Because I'm going to have a lot of "sick" opinions about the Right during this dark era.
Krauthammer is a cancer on the Republic, and he's far from the only one.
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)Not sure what that has to do with anything.
You wishing death on others is a personal statement. It has little to do with others character and nothing to do with my character. Its a statement of self. Probably the same thought process that brought the ignore comment about.

(82,849 posts)And "malignant" is le mot juste to describe Krauthammer, who unfailingly used his elevated perch to punch down on the victims of the policies and philosophy he endorsed.

(57,124 posts)agreeing with him. He did some amazing things with a life that would have stayed home and in bed with an early death. He was a very conservative Republican who stayed principled when those around him were in the mud. I'd never have voted for him, but I respected him.

No one.

(14,976 posts)I believe he harmed the public's understanding of important and complicated issues more than he benefited it. And in doing so contributed to the bad place we find ourselves in today.
I'm sorry he's dying, but I'm not sorry his ability to harm our society is dissipating.

(27,129 posts)He is a despicable neo-con who cheered on the Bush criminal syndicate.
He was part of the Fox News establishment that has corrupted our politics.
Good riddance.

(30,481 posts)Minus the good riddance part.
I still think he is a part of the old school conservatives that have been kicked to the curb for a much worse brand. That said, people like Kraut helped make it all possible.

(9,670 posts)"When I watch a George Will or a Charles Krauthammer, you know, I've watched them for years, they're losers. They're just losers. They sit there, they haven't done anything," Trump added.
For me, I'm not a fan of his ideology; not certain of his overall impact on others' ideologies, but he's been erudite and passionate if nothing else.
Was going to say something nasty about Krauthammer, heaven and pre-existing conditions, but my better self took over. Here's what he had to say about the ACA last year:
"But the irony is in the end, I think Obamacare wins the day because it changed expectations. Look at the terms of the debate. Republicans are not arguing the free market anymore. They have sort of accepted the fact that the electorate sees health care as not just any commodity. It's not like purchasing a steak or a car. It is something people now have a sense that government ought to guarantee".
If your beliefs allow for reincarnation, I sincerely hope this man's intellect comes back to Earth in a progressive's body. Safe journeys, sir.
